GREAT SCOTT! Nike’s First Self-Lacing Sneaker Is Coming Soon [video]

Back in 2014, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield confirmed that “power laces” will arrive in 2015. It’s almost 2017 and there’s no power laces.

Actually, the wait will be over soon as the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, the first commercially available self-lacing sneaker, is about to drop.

Unveiled at Nike’s 2016 innovation summit, the HyperAdapt are the self-lacing kicks that no one saw coming. With the broken promise of a Nike Mag release in the Spring of 2016, the HyperAdapt represents Nike’s first step into using power laces for performance and not just props ( think Back to the Future ).

Nike confirmed that appointments to experience and purchase the HyperAdapt will begin Nov. 28 but the company is yet to announce details on how to schedule an appointment. Most probably the appointments will be schedule through Nike+ app.

Don’t expect the HyperAdapt to be cheap given the tech and innovation that comes with the shoes. In the meantime check out the video below to learn more about the sneakers and head over to Wired to find out more…
