Apple Releases OSX 10.9 Mavericks As A Free Download

During today’s keynote, Apple has announced the latest version of OS X, 10.9 Mavericks, which will be available as a free download ( yes, you read that right. The latest OS X will be FREE to download – 10.8 Mountain Lion was priced at $19.99, 10.7 Lion was $29.99 ) in the Mac App Store.

OS X Mavericks will bring increased speed and efficiency, better support for multiple monitors and full screen apps, a more robust notification system which includes inline replies, a revamped Finder and iCloud Keychain for saving passwords.

The discount will not extend to OS X Server. The latest Server 3.0 requires Mavericks and will be available as a $19.99 upgrade from the Mac App Store.

NOTE: Mavericks is not yet available in the Mac App Store. We will updated this post with direct links as soon as they’re available.
