OmniVision To Produce 3.2 and 5 MegaPixel Image Sensors for iPhone

Apple is working with OmniVision on 3.2 MP and 5 MP image sensors for the new iPhone coming in June

This rumor started on April 1st, so i thought this was a joke. Really, dont believe anything you read on the net on that day. But it seems that the rumor persists and it seems to be as genuine as it gets.

We know that listening to any form of an Apple rumor — especially those that involve to the iPhone — is akin to an hour long session of water-boarding, but you’re just going to have to take this one on the chin for the sake of the team. It seems that the lovable lads over at DigiTimes have yet to have enough fun with their Apple rumor-mongering and are now reporting that Apple and OmniVision have both signed off on a contract which would have the latter produce 3.2 megapixel image sensors for the upcoming iPhone revamp. In addition to this, the same source is also reporting that a 5 megapixel image sensor is also included in the deal which is not iPhone bound but rather for a different product all together which is slated to launch much later this year, perhaps for that rumored touchscreen netbook or “the other” iPhone. We’ll see…
