Apple has seen unprecedented success over the past few years, but the company’s senior vice president of design, Jonathan Ive, says the prosperity comes second to making great products.
“We are really pleased with our revenues, but our goal isn’t to make money,” Ive said at the British Embassy’s Creative Summit. “It sounds a little flippant, but it’s the truth. Our goal and what makes us excited is to make great products.”
But surely Ive must care that the company he joined back in 1997 is now one of the most valuable in the world, right? Of course, but only because it allows Apple to continue making dope products. “If we are successful, people will like [our products], and if we are operationally competent, we will make money,” he said.
