iPhone DevTeam: Clarifying Issues Regarding iPhone Firmware 3.1 Jailbreak

The iPhone Dev-Team updated their last article, talking about two problems that occur with firmware 3.1. The first is the name of the operator, after the Jailbreak, it seems to disappear from the Status Bar, the second hand, the freezing of customized bundles for the operators (. IPCC) .

The iPhone Dev-Team updated their last article, talking about two problems that occur with firmware 3.1. The first is the name of the operator, after the Jailbreak, it seems to disappear from the Status Bar, the second hand, the freezing of customized bundles for the operators (. IPCC) .

In the case of the carrier name, which disappears from the Statusbar, dont panic.  This is a small mistake but they do not have any influence on the operation of the SIM or phone. Even if you dont see your carriers name , the phone works perfectly and you can receive and make calls. This problem, will be resolved with the release of new version of PwnageTool which will be compatible with the iPhone 3GS.

It seems that this problem occurs when you switch from iPhone FW 3.0. 1 directly to a jailbroken iPhone FW 3.1 . If this bug is driving you crazy, and you want to fix it, i suggest you restore your iPhone with the original iPhone firmware 3.1 and than use this tutorial to create your own custom jailbroken iPhone 3.1 firmware.

About the second problem, the iPhone DevTeam says that Apple has introduced “signed” carrier bundles , which prevents you from changing the APN and to mount their own custom files. The good news is that probably, through the Jailbreak, you can circumvent this new protection. As soon as there will be updates on this matter we’ll let you know.
