NoCyFresh: Shown To Be A Dangerous Package. Dev Begs To Differ…

If you checked Cydia today, you could see that NoCyFresh had an update. On the download page, there is a big red disclaimer that says ” NOTE: NoCyFresh shown to be a dangerous package ( it actually replace Cydia ) . This update safely removes it ”

In fact this updated wasn’t pushed by the developer, but by ModMyi. The developer says that he knows no other way to stop Cydia from refreshing itself and the package contains no malicious code.

The update is not by me. Modmyi released this update in order to get the package removed. They are marking it unsafe because it refreshes cydia. I am not sure how esle can I stop cydia from refreshing if I don’t replace it. I cam assure you there is no malicacous code in it. The project is also open source so people can go and check the code to see if there is any malicious code in it. The code page is listed under “developers page” under the package description.

If you are interested in the source code, you can find it here. To be honest, i have no idea how to advise you on this one. ModMyi pushed an unofficial update with a disclaimer but they don’t state the facts. On the other hand nathulal, got a strong case, by providing the source code. Personally i love this toggle, i didn’t remove it, and i didn’t experience any issues with Cydia since i use it. If anything, you can always troubleshoot Cydia, and maybe as a last resort re-install it. Check our previous tutorial…
