Native MMS iPhone 2G: Enable MMS On iPhone EDGE/2G Running Firmware 3.1.2

Tue, Oct 20, 2009

CRACKS & HACKS, CYDIA

If you still have the iPhone EDGE running firmware 3.1.2 chances are you want to have the MMS function up and running. Well, there’s a simple fix called : Native MMS iPhone 2G and it can be found in Cydia.

First thing you need to do is to install the iFoneGuide repository. You can do this by simply searching for “iFoneGuide” in Cydia. Than look for Native MMS iPhone 2G package and install it.

After install go to Settings>General>Network and set all the parameters according to your carrier. That’s it, you can now enjoy MMS on your iPhone EDGE/2G.We are not sure if this works on firmware 3.1 ( although it should, because there not a huge difference between 3.1 and 3.1.2 ), but if you decide to try it, you will try it at your own risk. It can cause a CommCenter corruption and that will make you restore your iPhone.

i’ve followed all your instruction, and even reboot my 2g iphone.
But it seems in my network setting it only has “data roaming”, “VPN” & “wi-fi”. My “celullar network setting” are gone.
    ??

after i uninstall, then reboot again, my “celullar network setting” is still gone.

yep, i said it in the article “…you will try it at your own risk. It can cause a CommCenter corruption and that will make you restore your iPhone.” . Also this is for iPhone 2G ( EDGE, first gen iPhone ) ONLY. Do not try this one with the 3G or 3Gs.

I installed this on my iphone no problem. I then installed it on my husband’s and when I rebooted the phone was stuck in a loop. After looking at things closer I realized my husband’s OS is 3.0. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this other than restoring the phone and jailbreaking and unlocking again?
