Over the many months you didn’t have a jailbreak on 7.x, if you are anything like us, you were absentmindedly performing gestures on your screen to preform the various functions embedded in your muscle memory from the jailbreak. Some of these tweaks are just hard to live without, and were the first things we installed when the jailbreak finally dropped. One of these must have tweaks ( actually, biteSMS is a full blown app ), and one of the reasons to jailbreak your iPhone, is biteSMS.

BiteSMS Updated To v7.5 With Speed and Stability Improvements

Aside from a full, more robust, replacement for the stock messaging app, BiteSMS also offers a handy set of features called quick compose and quick reply.These features allow you to assign a gesture (think activator) to quickly send or receive a SMS while within another app. Saving you steps, and not interrupting your work flow.

Aside from a full, more robust, replacement for the stock messaging app, BiteSMS also offers a handy set of features called quick compose and quick reply.These features allow you to assign a gesture (think activator) to quickly send or receive a SMS while within another app. Saving you steps, and not interrupting your work flow.

Now, if you are familiar with such things, you would know that there are several tweaks on the app store that offer similar functionality.  These more popular alternatives include Messages+ and iRealSMS. Where biteSMS differentiates itself is design.

Rather just create an (arguably) ugly popup bubble like messages+, or a 4.x style alert style popup like iReal, biteSMS took it up a notch with iOS 5 and made a custom popup based on the new tweet sheet. It honestly looks like something Apple should have bundled with the OS.

Functionality wise, it also has the competition beat. While the others focus 100% on messaging, and may or may not include things like MMS within their popup, bite wins again with system wide communication integration. From the customizable popup menu you can Call, FaceTime, or even view your entire conversation with the person.

Official Fix For iPhone 4 FaceTime And MMS Bugs After Running JailbreakMe

FaceTime and MMS bugs are now fixed for NEW JailbreakMe users. If you are already jailbroken, here’s what you have to do…

Quick word from PlanetBeing: FaceTime and MMS bugs are now fixed for NEW JailbreakMe users. If you already jailbroken and have this issues, you can either, restore from a backup or, via SSH browse to:

  • chmod 755 /private/var/mobile/Library;
  • chmod 755 /private/var/mobile/Library/Preference
  • reset Network Settings

HOW TO: Possibly Fix iPhone 4’s FaceTime And MMS Bugs After Jailbreaking With JailbreakMe

this is a quick fix that will probably won’t work for everybody. But still , if you really can’t live without MMS and FaceTime for another few hours to a day until JailbreakMe is updated to fix these bugs, won’t hurt you to try.

Assuming you backed up your iPhone 4 before jailbreaking it with JailbreakMe, all you need to do is connect it to your computer, load iTunes, right click on the iPhone and ‘Restore From Backup…’ . Of course this is a quick fix that will probably won’t work for everybody. But still , if you really can’t live without MMS and FaceTime for another few hours to a day until JailbreakMe is updated to fix these bugs, won’t hurt you to try.

With a new update poised on the horizon, SwirlyMMS is set to bring MMS messaging to the 3G iPad.

SwirlySpace was the first group of developers to bring MMS functionality to the first generation iPhone with their app SwirlyMMS, and they’ve done it again. With a new update poised on the horizon, SwirlyMMS is set to bring MMS messaging to the 3G iPad.

So, just to be clear, this MMS is sent *natively* via carrier networks and NOT via our free and otherwise great service SwirlyNet.We are currently working on a new GUI for the iPad but as this movies demonstrates all technical pieces are in place that allows SwirlyMMS to send and receive MMS and SMS using the iPad!
