The video below is a quick demo of Apple’s Siri communicating with a Crestron Control System. Let’s be honest, with all the bells and whistles that the jailbreak world has to offer, there’s only a handful of tweaks that actually adds any value to our iOS devices. One of those tweaks is SBSettings – a must have tweak, that moves common toggles directly into springboard for quick and easy access. Apple mysteriously left the ability to use Siri to toggle system preferences out of iOS 5, Developer Hazma Sood says he’s been working on a Toggles System for Siri that would allow you to tweak iOS system settings by voice command.

How does it work?
SiriProxy is used to intercept the communication with Apple’s servers. Based on your song request, Notorious Siri then sends your choice of Notorious B.I.G.’s Hypnotize and an a-cappella rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody to the device (the latter requiring for iPhones 4S).
Siri’s speech synthesis is synced to the beat using the timestamps obtained from the Echonest API which were then manually tweaked, to smooth out delays in the text-to-speech engine.

Using SiriProxy I am able to control any of the devices in my house. These are a couple things I can do in my room so far. Pandora control, IR commands, VLC Library control, Mountain weather reports and much more.

A few days ago, plamoni’s released Siri Proxy , a proxy server which allows developers to easily add functionality to Siri. Siri Proxy works by using a fake local DNS registry for guzzoni.apple.com – the servers that run Siri. In just a few day, developers all over the world have created some amazing plugins for Siri Proxy ( controlling your car, appleTV, thermostat etc ) and you can watch them all in action here.
