Designed to bridge the digital and analog worlds, the latest device is capable of turning digital iPhone images into analog instant photos using Impossible film.
The Instant Lab features a cradle to hold an iPhone with a highly specialized lens designed to focus the image from the Retina display onto the film plane.
At the base of the device is a high-precision film processing unit with extendable bellows to ensure the correct distance between the iPhone, optical system, and film.
At the heart of the device is the Impossible Film Processing Unit (FPU). a modular platform designed to process and develop Impossible instant film.
An accompanying app will allow users to select and crop images and will do all the necessary calculation to create the proper exposure regardless of the kind of Impossible instant film used.
