As of tomorrow, YouTube will no longer be included with new versions of iOS. But that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to access the video hosting site via your iPhone and iPad. Today YouTube has launched a new standalone version of the app that was designed internally, so even though Apple is revoking its native status, the cat videos will play on.
The new app features some improvements over the old, Apple-designed version, such as access to the full catalog of YouTube videos, including official music videos. There’s also in-app sharing to Facebook, Google+ and text message.
The new YouTube app for iOS is available now. If you plan to upgrade to iOS 6 or buy the iPhone 5 and still want access to YouTube, you’ll want to grab it from the App Store.
