Location: Davies Symphony Hall, San Francisco. Virtuoso pianist Lang Lang walked out on stage for his first (out of three) encores to play Flight of the bumblebee.. on an iPad. The app he used is called Magic Piano, create by Smule ( Ocarina, I Am T-Pain etc ).

WSJ reports that Smule, sent an iPad preloaded with the app to the Chinese pianist Lang Lang, who was part of the inspiration behind the idea but Smule co-founder Ge Wang didn’t hear from Lang Lang initially. The musician appears to approve of the app, which lets users easily play music by touching beams of light that stream down from the top of the screen.
