Just a few days after Facebook bought Instagram for an obscene amount of green, the company acquires another app: TagTile. TagTile provides businesses with a system to reward customers for their patronage.
TagTile announced the acquisition via a statement on its website:
Today, we are happy to announce that we are joining Facebook, and that they are acquiring substantially all of our assets. It’s a huge opportunity for us to take our goal—helping businesses grow—and do it on a much, much bigger scale than we could have on our own.
This iconic cube or “tile” as it were is likely to get sent out quite prolifically in the next few months if Facebook’s Offers program takes off. At the moment, Facebook Offers has coupons being used with the user simply showing an Offer to a clerk on their smartphone, the clerk then just entering in a code (or just saying “cool”) before they give the customer the deal they demand.
