LTE connectivity is present in the iPhone 5 with a single chip, single radio and a ‘dynamic’ antenna ( as Apple described it on stage ). iPhone 5 will support AT&T, Verizon and Sprint’s LTE.
The phone looks, pretty much, like all the mockups we’ve seen in the last few months featuring a 4-inch display with a screen resolution of 1136 x 640.
All Apple branded iOS apps have been updated for the new screen size and resolution. Third-party apps will be letterboxed where necessary, until devs will update them of course.
All of Apple’s own software has been updated for the new resolution and screen size, while third-party apps will be letterboxed where necessary.
iPhone’s display features in-cell touchscreen technology, integrating the touch sensors right into the display itself. Apple described it on stage as “the most accurate display in the industry.”
iPhone 5 is featuring a new 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a hybrid IR filter, and promises improved low light performance and 40 percent faster photo capture.
Apple has also added a built-in panorama mode, and will allow you to also take still photos while recording video, which maxes out at 1080p resolution.
Apple has also update the front camera on the iPhone 5. It’s 720p now…
The iPhone 5’s processor has been upgraded to Apple’s A6 SoC, which Apple suggests will result in double the CPU performance and two times faster graphics.
The rumors were spot-on. Apple has introduced a new dock connector, called Lighting, which is 80% smaller than its 30-pin predecessor. The new 8-pin plug offers a reversible design ( you can plug in either way ) and apparently they’ve also improved durability.
An adapter will also be available for purchase, for all your old accessories.
Microphones & Speaker
They iPhone 5 features 3 microphones with HD voice support. The 6th gen iPhone also feature a new redesigned loudspeaker that’s 20% smaller than before.
As rumors suggested, the jack has been repositioned at the bottom of the phone.
