HOW TO: Use Absinthe 2.0 To Jailbreak Your iPhone and iPad Running iOS 5.1.1 [Mac & Windows]

It’s finally here. This release has been a large collaborative effort between Chronic-Dev Team and iPhone Dev Teams (Jailbreak Dream Team). This jailbreak supports firmware 5.1.1 ONLY and is again one of the most easiest jailbreaks to use. Jump over the break to check out how it’s done…

NOTE: Make sure to remove any passcodes or VPN settings you’ve previously set.

NOTE: Make sure you backup your device via iTunes as you may loose your Camera Roll

NOTE: if you’re yet to update to 5.1.1 and jailbreak follow the steps below. If you’re already jailbroken ( tethered ) on 5.1.1, just search for and install “Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 Untether” from Cydia.

NOTE: this tutorial was made on a Mac using an iPad. The process is exactly the same on all the other platforms and all devices

NOTE: This version of absinthe supports ONLY iOS 5.1.1 hence it supports all devices on 5.1.1 ( yes, it supports the iPad 3 too )

1. Update your device to iOS 5.1.1. For iPhone users that need an unlock, this will update your baseband which may result in loosing the ability to unlock.

2. Download Absinthe 2.0.4

3. Load Absinthe and connect your device. Click on the Jailbreak button…

4. Now all you need to do is wait. Absinthe will begin the jailbreaking process which will take around 2-3 minutes. A message that says ‘Done, enjoy!’ indicates that the jailbreaking process is complete and you can unplug your device and close Absinthe.
