HOW TO: Jailbreak iPhone 3G/iPod Touch 2G Running iOS 4 With RedSn0w And Enable Multitasking & Wallpapers

The iPhone DevTeam released a new update of redsn0w which is still in beta but, they added support for iPod Touch 2G, multitasking & wallpaper. The jailbreaking progress with the new update is exactly the same but now you will have the options to enable multitasking and wallpapers from within the tool.

NOTE: iOS 4 GM can be installed by anyone. You don’t need to be a developer and/or bypass the UDID

This BETA release supports:

  • iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G only (for now)
  • Mac OSX only (for now)
  • the 4.0beta1/beta4/GM FW only (for now)

You will need:

  • iOS 4 GM installed on your iOS device ( iPhone 3G or iTouch 2G )
  • iOS 4 GM saved on your desktop
  • iTunes 9.2 beta
  • redsn0w 0.9.5beta5

How to:

1. Connect your iOS device to your Mac via USB…

2. Load redsn0w 0.9.5beta5 and click browse. Select firmware 4.0 GM from your desktop and click next…

3. An automated process will start which will patch your kernel…

4. On the next screen, you will need to select the packages you want to install. You will select Cydia and (optional) choose to enable multitasking and wallapapers…

5. On the next screen you will be asked to put your iOS device in DFU mode. Follow the instructions on the screen…

6. Now, another automated process will begin, which will jailbreak your iOS device…

7. After reboot, load Cydia>Manage> Sources> Edit> Add and add the following source: http://apt.saurik.com/cydia-3.7

8. That’s it. Enjoy
