With iTunes, Airplay, and AppleTV, Apple actually has a wide range of software and devices that can turn your little Mac into a streaming media powerhouse. There are even more if you turn to the third party developer community. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who are shouting “XMBC!” right now, and I’ve liked what I’ve seen, but I’ve always been sort of a zen kinda Mac user, here. It seems that whenever I find a tool I really like, it gets discontinued or bought up by a bigger fish. Thats why I like using Apple’s built-in tools whenever possible; they’re free, they’re included, and there’s less of a chance they’re going anywhere.

XBMC Updated To v12.1 With iOS 6 and iPhone 5 Support And Many Other Fixes

XBMC releases an update to v12.1 which comes with many fixes including full iOS 6 and iPhone 5 support

Just a quick heads-up: a just-launched XBMC 12.1 update improves the experience in several ways on Apple platforms, rolling up iOS 6 support for second-generation Apple TV boxes, making full use of the iPhone 5’s expanded screen and bringing support in OS X for both the default audio device and playback acceleration from Intel GPUs.

nitoTV Updated. Added Support For XBMC Media Center

The latest nitoTV update will auto-install XBMC repo and then XBMC will be featured in the list of packages available for your AppleTV 2.

Just a couple of minutes ago, we showed you how to manually install XBMC on your AppleTV2. Even though the installation is straight forward, it involves working with the terminal. If that’s the case, nitoTV is here to help you. The latest nitoTV update will auto-install XBMC repo and then XBMC will be featured in the list of packages available for your AppleTV 2.
