World of Warcraft on iPhone?

WoW on your iPhone? Perhaps we’ll learn more at E3 next month.

The weekend is here, you’ve got your soda and chips, and it’s finally time to log into World of Warcraft for some leveling. And then it happens: spouse aggro. The inlaws are throwing a barbeque, and your presence is required. What to do?

No problem, just grab your iPhone and you’ll be all set. If the video below is to be believed, you can take advantage of most of what Warcraft has to offer via a mobile client. As the folks at Touch Arcade say, this is either a pretty slick implementation of WoW on the iPhone, or a very elaborate hoax. I don’t think I’d try raiding with it, but for puttering around grinding rep or checking the broker, it seems very serviceable.

The developers, Vollee, have already produced a Second Life client. Unfortunately the Vollee site (http://www.vollee.com/home) is down at the moment, but from reading the Second Life article it seems like the client works similar to the OnLive technology that we discussed a few weeks back: the heavy lifting is being done via remote servers while the iPhone just works as a thin client. While I remain sceptical of OnLine replacing your XBox 360 anytime soon, for a low FPS application like this World of Warcraft client, the idea seems to work well enough.

No one thus far has gotten confirmation from Activision Blizzard on whether or not this client is in any way official. It might just be a prototype or a proof of concept. Perhaps we’ll learn more at E3 next month.

Flash Finally on iPhone and iPod Touch?

flash-iphone1

Remember my post on how to boost MobileSafari?Well if you do, than you remember that there was a plugin that gave you the ability to view flash videos on webpages and eliminates that stinky missing plugin icon.Well this is something similar.

I bet you want me to answer some questions for you. Well let’s do that :

Q : What is it called?

A : iMobileCinema

Q : Is it a flash player?

A : Hell no!

Q : Is it better?

A : Not yet.

Q: Works with .swf?

A: Nope

Q: What about .flv?

A : Well it has to work with something , right?

Q : If i already have this feature from the addons pack that you showed me in the previous post, why do i need this? It’s exactly the same, really do u have some new stuff for me or not?

A : Yep. Well you might not want this right now, but according to their blog , in the near future you will get this :

Some live broadcast sites are using rtmp protocol to deliver videos, e.g., mtv.com, hulu.com. We’ll try to support the protocol later. And playing embedded mp3, like singsbox.com, is a good idea and we’ll try to support it too.

Q : Oh wow, that’s cool! OK , OK, how can i get this?

A : Well , like all good stuff that are happening to the iPhone and/or iPod Touch , you can get this thru Cydia. First you need to add this source : http://d.imobilecinema.com , than you just search for iMobileCinema and install the package.

Q : Anything else that i should be aware about?

A : Hmm… not really. But you might wanna check out iMobileCinema’s Blog

CUBE – FREE FIRST PERSON SHOOTER FOR iPhone/iPod

OH WOW. I am really excited. Developper fernLightning has finally released Cube. Cube is an open source multiplayer and singleplayer first person shooter game built on an entirely new and very unconventional engine. Cube is a landscape-style engine that pretends to be an indoor FPS engine, which combines very high precision dynamic occlusion culling with a form of geometric mipmapping on the whole world for dynamic LOD for configurable fps & graphic detail on most machines. Uses OpenGL & SDL.

Words are useless here so check out the video
