Existing Verizon Customers Can Pre-Order The iPhone 4 Starting Tomorrow

Apple today announced that it will be joining Verizon in offering pre-orders of the new Verizon iPhone to existing Verizon customers as of tomorrow.

Apple today announced that it will be joining Verizon in offering pre-orders of the new Verizon iPhone to existing Verizon customers as of tomorrow.

The company also announced that all other customers can begin ordering the Verizon iPhone for delivery or in-store pickup beginning next Wednesday, February 9th, although handsets won’t be available for pickup until the following day.

Apple’s retail stores will open at 7:00 AM on Thursday, February 10th to allow customers to purchase the Verizon iPhone, with Verizon’s 2,000 retail stores also offering availability. A day-by-day timeline of the launch process is posted on Apple’s site.

Now that it’s official, and the iPhone is coming to Verizon, let’s take a look at the similarities and, most importantly, differences between the two carriers. As you can see, the big difference — aside from carrier quality — is that the AT&T iPhone can use a simultaneous voice and data connection, meaning you can talk on the phone while tethering or browsing the web. Verizon’s CDMA network doesn’t allow for this sort of simultaneous connectivity, so keep that in mind (if you are an existing AT&T customer) before making the switch.

Verizon iPhone 4 Will Be Available Early Next Month

After talking up his new LTE network a bit, Verizon CEO Lowell Mcadam confirmed a CDMA (non-LTE) version of the iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon Wireless next month.

This is it, it’s official: The iPhone 4 will be available on Verizon starting early next month. After talking up his new LTE network a bit, Verizon CEO Lowell Mcadam confirmed a CDMA (non-LTE) version of the iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon Wireless next month. Talks started way back in 2008, and the phone has been in testing for a year — it sounds like they wanted to get this one right.

Update:

On February 3rd existing Verizon customers will have an opportunity to pre-order and on February 10th, everyone will be able to order online, in stores, or in Apple stores. Price is set for the standard $199 for the 16GB, $299 for 32GB with mobile hotspot included for up to 5 devices.

Apple Planning TWO New iPhones For This Summer: iPhone HD And A CDMA iPhone

If Apple follows their usual refresh pattern, soon, we will see… not one but two iPhones. The next-generation iPhone would be announced on June 22nd (a Tuesday, naturally) and would be dubbed the iPhone HD (a name that has been tossed around before).

A couple of months form now, it will be 1 year since the iPhone 3Gs was introduced to the public. If Apple follows their usual refresh pattern, soon, we will see… not one but two iPhones according to WSJ. Engadget is reporting that the next-generation iPhone would be announced on June 22nd (a Tuesday, naturally) and would be dubbed the iPhone HD (a name that has been tossed around before).
