Apple Releases Incremental iTunes 10.7 Update To Support New Devices And iOS 6

While we won’t be seeing the heavily redesigned iTunes 11 until October, Apple has unveiled a new update ready for its roster of new devices, not to mention the incoming iOS 6.

Japanese Siri vs Shabette Concier [video]

Apple added Japanese support for Siri in its most recent software update, iOS 5.1, but it appears that the voice-activated assistant doesn’t perform as well as competing service Shabette Concier from NTT Docomo.

Apple added Japanese support for Siri in its most recent software update, iOS 5.1, but it appears that the voice-activated assistant doesn’t perform as well as competing service Shabette Concier from NTT Docomo. This video pits the two head-to-head and finds that Siri has a couple of important shortcomings. Noticeably, its language processing doesn’t seem to handle colloquial speech as well as Shabette Concier and there isn’t support for maps or location lookup for restaurants and hospitals yet.

No Update: Stop Accidental OTA Updates

New day, new tweak in Cydia. No Update stops new Software Being Discoverable in the Sofware Update Section in the Settings.app.This means this will stop any accidental Updates comming trough and accendly installing it.

It will also show a message to show that the tweak has worked and no software will be discoverable (in the Software Section) if you decided you want to install the latest firmware just simply remove the tweak from Cydia.

No Update is available in Cydia via BigBoss repo…

Apple To Release iOS 5.1 On March 9th

Apple recently published eleven new profiles for various iPhone-operators that point to a potential iOS 5.1 release date, reports BGR. The files include references to iOS 5.1, and they mention an update launch date of March 9th, indicating an iOS update could be released around the same time for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The profiles are intended for operators in Japan, France, Greece, Finland and Sweden, and will ensure network connectivity after an update is downloaded.

Just a quick heads-up: Apple just dropped iOS 4.3.3. Fixed Location Database.

Just a quick heads-up: Apple just dropped iOS 4.3.3. This update contains changes to the iOS crowd-sourced location database cache, including:

  • reduced the size of the cache
  • no longer backs the cache up to iTunes
  • deletes the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off

White iPhone 4 Seen Demoing New iOS Features? [video]

It’s difficult to ascertain how legitimate this software is — it could just be a neatly done jailbreak mod — but that site has a track record of getting its hands on Apple gear ahead of the pack.

Engadget just laid eyes on a video from the prolific leaksters over at Tinhte, who claim they not only have a white iPhone 4 from Apple, but it’s one with a “test version” of iOS that nobody else has yet seen. It’s difficult to ascertain how legitimate this software is — it could just be a neatly done jailbreak mod — but that site has a track record of getting its hands on Apple gear ahead of the pack.
