Ultrasn0w Fixer For iOS 5.1

Ultrasn0w fixer is a workaround for unlocking iPhones that run iOS 5.1

On March 7th, Apple has rolled out iOS 5.1. Turns out that, for non-A5 devices redsn0w can already jailbreak ( tethered ) the new iOS, and iH8sn0w has released an updated version of sn0wbreeze to support it.  Unfortunately, there are some problems with ultrasn0w, but today we have a workaround until the iPhone DevTeam updates the official package to fully support iOS 5.1

Ultrasn0w iPhone Unlock Updated With iOS 5.0.1 Support

A couple of days ago, we told you that the iPhone DevTeam will update ultrasn0w with support for iOS 5.0.1 and they will release it on Cydia, Monday. Apparently, everything was sorted out and working as planed, so the new ultrasn0w is available to download now.

NOTE: This new update just brings support for iOS 5.0.1 and it won’t unlock any new basebands. Basebands it will work on: iPhone 4 ( 01.59.00 ) and iPhone 3G/3GS (04.26.08 , 05.11.0705.12.01,05.13.04 and 06.15.00 ).

If you don’t want to wait for pod2g’s untethered jailbreak, and want to try the unlock now, you can use redsn0w to create a custom ipsw and restore your device with it. A custom ipsw will update your device to the latest firmware but it won’t update your baseband.

Ultrasn0w for iOS 5.0.1 Will Be Available On Cydia Next Monday

Earlier today, we told you that the iPhone DevTeam has released an updated redsn0w which comes with iOS 5.0.1 support. In the tool’s notes, the DevTeam mentioned something we totally missed: ‘ultrasn0w compatability update (i.e. same baseband requirements) for 5.0.1 will be available on Cydia Monday‘.

Unfortunately ( for some ) this is not a brand new release, and it will unlock the same basebands as before: iPhone 4 ( 01.59.00 ) and iPhone 3G/3GS ( 04.26.08 , 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and 06.15.00 ).

Let’s just hope that pod2g will drop the untethered jailbreak soon, and we’ll all have a Merry Christmas.

There is no ETA for the unlock and first *they* need to drop an untethered jailbreak ( which is in the works too ), so let’s just hope Santa will come early this year. At the moment there’s no other info available but we will keep you informed. Stay tuned…

iPhone DevTeam Releases Ultrasn0w v1.2.4 With iOS5 Support

the iPhone DevTeam updates ultrasn0w to v1.2.4 with iOS5 support

As announced yesterday, the iPhone DevTeam updated ultrasn0w with support for iOS5. Please note that this update doesn’t add support for any new basebands, the update is required for any ultrasn0w unlockers trying out iOS5 (it remains backwards compatible though, so you should be able to use it no matter what firmware you have).

iPhone DevTeam to Update Ultrasn0w for iOS5

MuscleNerd announced that they ‘will coordinate ultrasn0w iOS5 compatibility update to come out *after* a planned MobileSubstrate update tomorrow’.

MuscleNerd announced that they ‘will coordinate ultrasn0w iOS5 compatibility update to come out *after* a planned MobileSubstrate update tomorrow’. Please understand that they won’t release a brand new ultrasn0w. They will just update the existing one with iOS5 support and old baseband.

Also, please understand that ‘after a planned MobileSubstrate update tomorrow’, doesn’t ( necessarily ) mean it will be released 3 seconds after the MobileSubstrate update is released. Once MobileSubstrate is updated, they will have to start checking compatibility and then release the updated (patched) ultrasn0w.

Ultrasn0w Fixer: Brings Ultrasn0w Compatability To iOS 4.3.2

Since Apple dropped the newest firmware for our iOS devices, some unlockers have already updated to the newest firmware using either custom PwnageTool bundles, or the newly updated Sn0wbreeze. The main problem now, is that with new firmwares, come compatibility issues. The main affecting “Unlocked” iPhone users, both 3GS and iPhone 4, is to Ultrasn0w. Not anymore. DJayB6 has updated the Ultrasn0w fixer tool, and hosted it on his own repo..

Ultrasn0w For iOS 4.3.1 To Be Released In ‘A Few Days’

Just a quick heads-up: MuscleNerd just announced that ‘ The 4.3.1 issues (signal bars, etc) are fixed, but need a few days to test all devices + FW (again: not a new unlock! ) ‘ . This won’t be a brand new ultrasn0w, but an update to the existing one which will allow already unlocked iPhone users to update to iOS 4.3.1.
