Yesterday we provided details about the new vulnerability found by P0sixninja and exploited by pod2g. We said that at the moment the future jailbreak is a tethered jailbreak, and minutes later P0sixninja, said those are just speculation because they didn’t say where the exploit is and if it’s tethered or not.
Anyway, second hand bloggers and tech journalists who all of sudden think that jailbreaking is hot ( and now they can write about it because it’s legal, so they got balls ) bought it and let’s face it, it’s all for those 15 minutes of fame. We all need to create some hype.
So, at the moment the future jailbreak is a tethered one, but that doesn’t mean that an untethered jailbreak won’t be released or MAYBE, by the time the jailbreak will be released, it will be an untethered one.
P0sixninja reveals some new info about the the exploit, which is called SHAtter and it’s a bootrom exploit, meaning that it’s the first *thing* that runs when an iOS device is being booted. That means, that Apple won’t be able to stop the jailbreak, without upgrading the hardware.
Yesterday, we told you that a new boot level exploit was found by Pod2G and P0sixninja, and that a new jailbreaking tool is on its way. What we failed to mention yesterday is the fact that the new jailbreaking tool, won’t be released soon. In the near future? Yes, definitely. But there’s still a lot of work to be done in the process.
if you are using blackra1n for a tethered jailbreak, DO NOT UPDATE! Everybody else can update without a problem.

Apple just released iTunes 9.1, and we told you that everything seems to be working just fine BUT it kills blackra1n on Windows ( Mac users: even though, the tool seems to have no problems on Mac, no need to hurry with this update ). So, basically, if you are using blackra1n for a tethered jailbreak, DO NOT UPDATE! Everybody else can update without a problem.
We got a couple of mails telling us that after the update, the jailbroken iDevices were not recognized by the new version of iTunes. If this happens to you, re-install iTunes.
iH8sn0w is working on a fix that will solve blackra1n’s issues with the new version of iTunes, allowing everybody to update. It will be available in a few hours/tomorrow. We will keep you updated. Stay tuned…
