The original “rainbow” Apple logo signs are set to be auctioned off in June for $10,000 – $15,000. The signs where in use from 1977 to 1998 and designed by Rob Janoff in two weeks after an examination of physical cross-sections and real apples. The multi-colored stripe design was personally approved by Steve Jobs and used on every products from Apple II to the Newton PDA until was retired in favor of the monochrome version we know today.
