Announcement: iCarbons Week ! A Week of Reviews and Free Stuff !!!

Quite often when you work for a site like this, you are asked to review various things. Most of the time the first reaction is, “wow! another ‘random’ app” or you just sigh and hope that the app/product is at least half as good as the dev/company claims it is. This is pretty much the norm. Not in any way glamorous, but we do enjoy bringing you guys the best of the best ( and believe me, we leave A LOT of stuff on the cutting room floor). Every once in a while though, a company reaches out to you and makes you truly excited. This is one of those times.

Recently we ran a little review featuring the new iCarbons smart cover kit. It was pretty well received. In fact, it even garnered an email from the good folks at iCarbons just to say thanks. Always exciting to be sure, but the big news was yet to come. They were so enamored by our review that they have asked us to review practically their entire Apple related line!

Walt Mossberg: Despite The Exposed Antenna, The iPhone 4 Does Better Than The 3Gs [video]

Walt Mossberg, personal technology columnist for the Wall Street Journal, tested the iPhone 4 for six weeks and came to the conclusion that although i4’s voice call capabilities could’ve been better handled, the devices still does better than its predecessor, the iPhone 3Gs.

He also said that the ‘death grip’ is not such a serious issue. It does make the i4 drop bars yes, but it’s not dropping calls.

Interpath for iPhone

The Interpath for iPhone application allows for a remote pathologist to review and navigate high quality images of diagnostic quality using either the cellular network or WIFI networks on the iPhone. Using the application rapid specialist referrals can be made, without access to a computer, a microscope or the original specimen. The image can be reviewed by the pathologist and used to provide a diagnosis used in cancer and other disease treatments.

The system consists of a generic high quality microscope slide scanner, of which there are several currently on the market. A server where the images are located and the iPhone. The iPhone is used to access the large image that is stored in the server but only to retrieve relevant parts. Using the multi-touch interface that the iPhone provides, an intuitive interface is provided that allows the user to navigate and view images of interest in a similar way to that provided by Google Earth. There are plans to put this system into immediate trials prior to consideration of its integration into our patient treatment workflow.

LEGO BATMAN : GOTHAM CITY GAMES ( .ipa )

Now when you were a kid  didnt you just loved this 2 things ( brands ) : LEGO and Batman? I know i did. So when i saw this game for the iPhone/iPod Touch i went crazy. Well it’s not a great game, but you can consider it a time-killer game.

Once you load the game you will need to enter ( create ) a new player. Once you created your new player you will be presented with the game menu, which has 3 categories :

  • Story.
  • Free Play.
  • Options.

BOOST MOBILESAFARI FOR iPhone

One essential app in our beloved iPhone is , of course, MobileSafari. But , what can it do for you? How efficient are you when you are using it? Let’s take a look on how we can boost its features, and make you a more efficient user.

How can you do that? With just one pack of addons found in Cydia. You can find the package on the iSpazio repository and it is called Safari Addon Plugins. This package adds a variety number of new bookmarks. They are javascript that will allow users to do a lot things in Safari, like :


  • Tabulate – open link in new tabs
  • Copy-Paste – the new method to copy and paste offered by PasteBud
  • Find in this page : search words in a page
  • Translate to english : automatically translate the site you are visiting in english
  • Open in new tab : similar to tabulate
  • Image search : search for images in google Google Images with just one tap
  • Search in WikiPedia
  • iTransmogrify : first method to play flash videos in MobileSafari
  • Find similar sites
  • Dictionary
  • Display all images : shows only the images on a page

SSH onto iPhone – /private/var/mobile/application – find the wierd named folder that contains this game and change permissions to 0775.
