IKEA Releases Statement To Reassure Vinyl Collectors On Expedit Replacement

times might not be so dark after all

ikea-expedit

If you collect vinyl and live in the Western world, you’ve probably come across an Expedit. Hell, if you’re over 30 years old, you’ve probably ended up shaving your knuckles building multiples of the towering matrix of 12″ x 12″ shelves, and they have quite rightly become an extra member of the family for many vinyl junkies the world over.

When Ikea revealed it was to discontinue the popular shelves earlier this week, there was predictable backlash as fans launched angry Tweets, not understanding why Ikea would offer such a death blow to the vinyl community. The Swedish furniture giant talked about a replacement, but what could replace the humble Expedit? It was perfect.

Record Collectors It’s Time To Panic & Freak Out. IKEA Discontinues The Iconic ‘Expedit’ Shelving Range

IKEA recently announced that they are discontinuing their Expedit line of bookshelves—at least in Germany—and the news has sparked an intense reaction among German vinyl enthusiasts

ikea-expedit-vinyl-shwlves-FSMdotCOMFind a record collector anywhere in this world and chances are that his/hers beloved collection lies comfortably in an IKEA Expedit shelf. For years and years, KEA’s bookshelf has been the storage unit of choice for vinyl enthusiasts because it’s sturdy and each unit is the perfect height and depth for a 12″ record.

Even though last year IKEA embraced the vinyl community with the makeover of Harry Love’s record room, featuring the ubiquitous Expedit, now the Swedish home store has announced that they will be discontinuing their Expedit shelving range.

Cydia Now Available On The Web

ModMyi.com just made my dream come true. This statement is true or false? Well let’s see : not true, but not false. Why so confused? 🙂 Well they lunched something i wanted for a long time , which means that the statement its not false. But they didnt make my dream come true, because well… i dont have such low ambitions.

Anyway, they recently ( i believe ) released a web version of Cydia where you can search all the repos for apps. Cydia apps listings show basic information about each application as well as a screenshot. You can check webCydia ( thats how i call it ) here

Cydia™ is Debian APT on the iPhone. Think AppStore, but with packages you could never get direct through Apple. Created by Jay Freeman (saurik), Cydia™ is a feature-rich AppStore competitor. Full themes to completely make over your iPhone’s look are available through WinterBoard. Video recording is possible using Cycorder or Video Recorder for 3G. You can share your iPhone’s 3G connection with your laptop using PdaNet, or get free music, videos, and torrents using dTunes. Take complete control of your iPhone with SBSettings.

You’ll find Cydia™ right there on your iPhone after you jailbreak your iPhone. Using it is easy – browse the categories, check what’s new, or peruse the featured section to see the current popular apps. There’s hundreds (getting into the thousands) of themes to choose from. Cydia™ is easily searchable via the iPhone – but if you’re wanting to browse what’s available from your browser, that’s what this section of ModMyi.com is for.

Watch Live TV, Record DVR Programs and Watch Recorded Films on Your iPhone

The first exciting news from Macworld 2009 came late Monday afternoon when Sling Media PR director Brian Jaquet announced that we will see the much anticipated SlingPlayer for the iPhone by the end of the quarter. If you own a version of their SlingBox set top, this app will allow you to watch live TV, record DVR programs, and even watch recorded films over the air with a 3G or wifi connection.

Six months ago at WWDC, Sling showed off a proof-of-concept SlingPlayer on a jailbroken iPhone. Sling also informed reporters that they were using a jailbroken phone because they had not been accepted into Apple’s Developer Program.  From that moment, the rumor mill went into overdrive about why we have not seen an Apple approved SlingPlayer in the app store.

Along with the exciting iPhone news, Sling Media also announced that their streaming site, sling.com will begin supporting OS X via a browser plugin. For the first time, Mac users will be able to stream HD TV on their browsers from the SlingPlayer. Very exciting to see that Sling is finally showing Apple some love and I, for one, can’t wait to see the demo in person.

CHEAP iPhone WANNABES

Do you remember 2+ years ago when Steve Jobs first said the magic word : ” iPhone ” ? I know you do, but you remember it as a fan, in some cases a worshiper, but still…. You know who remembers that day like it was yesterday ? EVERYBODY in the industry. When the iPhone came out, it ruined everybodys plans. Everybody wants to copy the iPhone, but they didn’t succeed not even today after all this time.

I’m not talking here about the N97, or the android, not even about the Blackberry. Those are still top notch phones, that can be a real threat for the iPhone. But are you aware about the Asian cell phone industry?
