This is a useful reference but the user is unable to action the notification and respond in any way. This concept by Sam Beckett introduces action buttons for notification banners – providing a simple solution for users wanting to reply to a message or email without leaving the app they are currently using.

iOS 4: iPod Touch Can Stay Connected To WiFi When Asleep So You Can Receive VoIP Calls And Notification

On iOS 4 for iPod touch page, Apple notes that Wi-Fi connectivity will persists even when the iPod Touch is asleep so we can receive incoming VoIP calls and notifications from compatible third-party apps.

On the iOS 4 for iPod Touch page, Apple notes that Wi-Fi connectivity will persists even when the iPod Touch is asleep so we can receive incoming VoIP calls and notifications from compatible third-party apps.

There is no word if this feature will also be available for iPhone users, but it will probably not, because ( usually ) cellular data is pretty persistent. But, users would definitely welcome this feature on iOS devices.

New day , new app in Cydia: Elert. Elert is a growl like notification system for your iPhone, but this is just for email. It is really smooth and slick and you can even customize it. It will work on your lockscreen as well, and if you tap on the notification you will get a “quick view” at the email, and the options to load mail, delete the email or spam it.
