Using your computer is all about productivity. And being productive means you need to be organized. On macOS, a good place to start being organized is your Dock. One thing you can do is to add space separators in your dock so you can easily find what you’re looking for.

Another trick is to add a Recent Items folder to the Dock. This folder displays the recently closed apps/documents/servers/etc. It will not only clean up your Dock but it will also save you a lot of time when working with the same items over and over again.

For some reason people like to have their “most used” apps in the dock. I mean, Spotlight does an amazing job at finding and launching any app, and it’s a cmd+space away. Why do you need them in the dock? To each his own…

The problem is that sometimes that dock becomes overpopulated. So, how will it be faster to launch an app from the dock when you have to find it first?

If you have a full dock, maybe you want to organize it a bit. Did you know that you can add space separators to your dock?

Using spaces you can add sections to your dock, so you can easily find what you’re looking for. For example: system apps, add a space, browsers, add a space, photoshop/illustrator/video editing/etc, add a space, and so on.

Jump over the break to learn how to easily add spaces to your dock….

This one will be short and sweet. Everybody knows how to increase or decrease the screen brightness on the Mac or how to turn up the volume. It’s simple, the keys are right there in front of you on the keyboard.

But what do you do if you want to turn up the volume just ever so slightly? Instead of pressing the volume up key on your keyboard, press Shift+Option+Volume Up.

The same key combo works for screen brightness but, obviously, you’ll press the screen brightness keys instead of the volume keys.

Some of you might be familiar with this system, some of you might not. I’ve been personally using it for around 4 years now, and it’s been great. I mainly use it for Amazon and App Store/Mac App Store credit but you can use it for Google Play, Steam, Hulu Plus, PlayStation, Xbox, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Dominos, Sephora and so many more gift card options. Not only that but you can also get free AT&T and Verizon refill cards.

I’m talking about FreeMyApps, a system that rewards you with all the gift cards mentioned above for practically doing nothing. All you have to do is download free apps from the App Store or Google Play and run them for 30 seconds. That’s it.
