HOW TO: Use Your Mac’s Finder To Wirelessly Browse Your iPhone, iPod and iPad

what about downloading photos, print documents and move files wirelessly using nothing but the Mac OSX Finder? You can do that thanks to Netatalk.

There is no doubt that once you jailbreak your iDevices the world is at your feet. “World at your feet” is too romantic for you? Ok, let me put it this way, if you own an iPhone/iTouch/iPad and you are not jailbroken, you’re a sucka. You can do so much with a jailbroken iDevice, but what about downloading photos, print documents and move files wirelessly using nothing but the Mac OSX Finder?

You can do that thanks to Netatalk. Netatalk is a free and open source implementation of Apple Talk for Unix devices which, basically, lets you use Apple’s standard file sharing between a Mac and an iPhone, in the Finder. Read more about netatalk here

Use Your iPhone or iPod Touch As a Memory Stick

Memory Stick lets you use your iPhone or iPod Touch for storing and viewing files or for transferring files between two computers. Using Memory Stick, you can access your iPhone or iPod Touch just like you would a network drive from either Windows Vista, Windows XP or a Mac. You can copy files to and from the device simply by dragging and dropping files from within Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. Your iPhone or iPod Touch simply needs to be available on the network via its wi-fi capability.

To copy files to and from the iPhone, open the Memory Stick application and press the File Sharing button in the bottom toolbar.

In the page that is then shown, ensure that the File Sharing switch is set to ON. Shortly afterwards, just underneath the switch, the iPhone’s IP address and the Bonjour address will be shown.

The IP address is needed if you are accessing the iPhone from Windows. Either the IP address or the Bonjour address may be used if accessing the iPhone from a MAC (note that if you are accessing the iPhone from a MAC, the bonjour address will be more convenient since unlike the IP address, it will always remain the same).

Once File Sharing is enabled, you may connect to the phone either from a web browser, or by accessing the phone as a drive from within Windows Explorer or the Finder application (or indeed any webDAV client).

WriteRoom – Professional Replacement for Notes.app on Your iPhone ( .ipa )

Now if you just take a look at this app, you might notice nothing special about it. You will only notice the unusual (maybe) black background and the landscape keyboard with the option to email the documents.

WriteRoom is not Microsoft Word. It won’t generate a table of contents, it won’t place borders around your documents, and it doesn’t have an animated paper-clip looking over your shoulder. Instead WriteRoom just provides the essential features required to get words on the page. Stay focused with WriteRoom’s distraction free environment. Stay on track with word count. Stay safe with autosave. You just type, and WriteRoom will do its best to stay out of your way.
