First Chapter of ‘Official’ Jobs Biographic Manga Goes Live in Japan

A 14-page preview of the eponymous Steve Jobs manga was posted to the Web on Monday, with the first panels giving a look at how author Mari Yamazaki plans to to tell the tale of the late Apple co-founder.

Japanese manga publishing house Kodansha released the first images of “Steve Jobs,” which were subsequently posted to Yahoo Japan’s online bookstore, as the title’s first chapter hit store shelves today in the April issue of the company’s Kiss magazine, reports blog Crunchyroll. Interestingly, Kiss is a monthly Josei manga serial, or a publication targeting the young adult to adult female demographic.

Japan’s robotics research collective Bravo Robotics unveiled a preview of its latest prototype model for a remote-controlled sports car that transforms into a bipedal robot, which will be presented during the upcoming Maker Faire in Tokyo. The 1/12 scale model is operated by a modified PS3 controller and comes equipped with a missile launcher on each arm and a wireless camera that feeds into mobile devices like iPad.

Apple added Japanese support for Siri in its most recent software update, iOS 5.1, but it appears that the voice-activated assistant doesn’t perform as well as competing service Shabette Concier from NTT Docomo. This video pits the two head-to-head and finds that Siri has a couple of important shortcomings. Noticeably, its language processing doesn’t seem to handle colloquial speech as well as Shabette Concier and there isn’t support for maps or location lookup for restaurants and hospitals yet.

The sheet uses a lenticular lens system instead of a parallax barrier for a smoother, more consistent image, yielding a reported 90-percent transmission level and 120-degree field of view.
