Apple Brings iTunes Festival To U.S. At SXSW 2014

Apple announced today that it is bringing its iTunes Festival to the US for the first time, featuring an amazing lineup of global superstars, running from March 11-15.

Apple announced today that it is bringing its iTunes Festival to the US for the first time, featuring an amazing lineup of global superstars, running from March 11-15. Taking place at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, home of Austin City Limits, the iTunes Festival at SXSW will feature iTunes chart toppers including Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull, Keith Urban, ZEDD and more to come. All five nights of the iTunes Festival will be available to enjoy for free as a live and on-demand stream via the iTunes Store on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC. Performances can also be seen in the iTunes Festival app on your iOS device or with Apple TV in HD.

The festival begins on Sunday, September 1 with a performance from Lady Gaga and features many global superstars including Justin Timberlake, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jack Johnsonand Jessie J are among the headliners at this year’s iTunes Festival in London. Running every night in September at the Roundhouse, the iTunes Festival features over 60 acts performing at the legendary venue. Performances can be watched live or on-demand by iOS users around the world on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, as well as by music fans with iTunes on their computer or in HD with Apple TV.

Apple has replaced today the free content offer in their Apple Store app for iOS with 6 free songs in order to promote the iTunes Festival. The songs that Apple offers as a free download are:

  • “Trying to Be Cool” by Phoenix
  • “Workin’ Woman Blues” by Valerie June
  • “2013” by Primal Scream
  • “My Love Took Me Down to the River to Silence Me” by Little Green Cars
  • “Chain My Name” by Poliça
  • “The Curse” by Agnes Obel

The iTunes Festival kicks off on September 1 with Lady Gaga, and concerts will continue nightly throughout the month of September.

The iTunes Festival is back for 2010. The opening 3 nights have just been announced featuring the return of the fabulous Scissor Sisters, an evening with the legendary Tony Bennett and heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne.
