Apple Removes ‘Explicit’ App Category From iTunes

Last night Apple added an ‘explicit’ app category in iTunes Connect, and the thought was that, it would be a new category above and beyond the 17+ rating. Well, surprise, surprise… Apple already removed it.

Apple Adding An ‘Explicit’ Category To The App Store

In the past few days, Apple blocked a few ‘overtly sexual’ apps from app store. You know, the same old story. The app was accepted, then they realized that you can see an ankle somewhere.

In the past few days, Apple blocked a few ‘overtly sexual’ apps from app store. You know, the same old story. The app was accepted, then they realized that you can see an ankle somewhere.

While this actions are welcomed by some puritans, others believe that Steve Jobs conspires with the Vatican and they are claiming Apple is being hypocritical for allowing Playboy and Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue to remain on the App Store, while similar (and, in some cases, even less “overtly sexual”) apps are being banned.

Apple Added 13 New Countries To The App Store

Developers have one thing to be happy about today, because Apple added App Store support in Armenia, Botswana, Bulgaria, Jordan, Kenya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Niger, Senegal, Tunisia, and Uganda.

If you are a developer, you can log in to iTunes Connect to view and update the countries where your applications are available.

Apple has updated their iPhone/iPod/iPad developer guide to 5.3

Apple has updated their iPhone/iPod/iPad developer guide to 5.3, including:

  • Enhanced instructions on creating Demo Accounts
  • An explanation of the “New Territories as Added” checkbox
  • Revised app description character count recommendation based on the new design of App Product pages on the App Store
  • Additional information on export compliance

iTunes Connect: Apple Adds New Status Indicators

Apple has added new App Status Indicators to help developers track binaries submitted in iTunes Connect.

Apple posted a new message in the iPhone Dev Center , announcing that they added new App Status Indicators to help developers track binaries submitted in iTunes Connect.These new statuses give you a more precise indication of the state of your app when you submit your binary through Application Loader.

  • Upload Received means that your binary has been received through Application Loader but has not yet completed processing into the iTunes system.
  • Invalid Binary means that your binary has been received through Application Loader but did not meet the requirements of iTunes Connect.

iTunes Connect Closed For The Holidays

The holidays are just around the corner , and everybody will take some time off from what ever they. iTunes Connect is no exception.

The holidays are just around the corner , and everybody will take some time off from what ever they. iTunes Connect is no exception. iTunes Connect and AppStore approval team will have the week off ( December 23rd through December 28th ) , so in other words you can’t access your reports, and if you send in an app for review and the 14 day approval process falls in that period, you are out of luck.
