A short, simple and FREE way to get MMS, on your iPhone 2G ( 1st gen ). MMS was ported, now its time to get the other 3Gs goodies to the 2G and 3G and everybody will be happy.
So, you are still using a iPhone 2G and really want to get some MMS action? Well now you can, and its FREE. Dont get me wrong , you will still have to pay for the MMS you send, i mean to say the application is free.
I know, you can use such applications as Swirly MMS, but in case you didnt understand this one is FREE. It’s called ActivateMMS2G and you can find it in Cydia.
Once you installed it, restart your iPhone. Next go to Settings > Messages and make sure MMS Messaging is ON. If it’s not, restart your iPhone one more time.
Go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network and add the MMS info for your carrier. You can check out their website or just call them and ask them for them.
Thats it, now when you go to messages, you will see a photo cam icon on the left side of the text field. You can use it to select a photo that you want to send.
PS 1: sorry for the lack of screenshots, but i dont own a 2G. If somebody feels like making some screenshots and send them my way, much appreciated. Not necessarily tho…
PS 2: can someone check if you can send videos as well? For this, get a video in .MOV format and copy it via SSH ( Mac or Windows ) in / var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE , Make sure the video is not too long.
