Back in August 2009, a beta release of firmware 3.1 revealed the codename of next Apple product: ‘iProd’. At the time, everybody thought iProd is the codename for the yet to be released Apple tablet ( iPad ) , but soon everything got even more confusing when Apple secretly filmed a TV spot for ‘a new and mysterious product’ ( probably iProd ).
The latest beta of iPhone OS 3.1 contains a configuration for “iProd1,1,” suggesting that the mysterious device is closer to being released. Whether it’s a tablet or some other product is still anyone’s guess.
An interesting story on the discovery of a new device that will be released by Apple was unleashed on the www. Specifically, by examining the versions of the firmware 3.1 beta, ArsTechnica found references to a mysterious product called iProd.
It’s not sure what iProd is, but it could be a lot of things. It could be the much anticipated Apple Tablet, iPod Nano with the camera or, maybe a iPhone Nano?
