iTunes 10 No Longer Lets You Create Your Own Ringtones

With iTunes 10, Apple no longer offers this feature, probably because now, Apple, is selling ringtones too.

Just a quick heads-up: iTunes 10 no longer lets us create ringtones. The feature was introduced in 2007 when Apple released the original iPhone, and initially we could buy a song for 99 cents and cut and convert it into a ringtone. With iTunes 10, Apple no longer offers this feature, probably because now, Apple, is selling ringtones too.

Orianthi’s “According To You” Is The First Free iPhone Ringtone In the U.S iTunes Store

One place that offers you such ringtones is the iTunes store and it seems that it features the first free ringtones: Orianthi – According to You.

Over the time, we showed you how to create iPhone ringtones with iTunes and other applications , and also we presented some vintage electronic ringtones. I said it before ( and nothing has changed ) i prefer “normal” ringtones. I prefer my phone to ring like a phone , loud and clear. Most of you the other hand  want to have the latest hit as ringtone.

One place that offers you such ringtones is the iTunes store and it seems that it features the first free ringtones: Orianthi – According to You. This is available only in the US iTunes store, and you will need a US account.

Learn how to use a full length song as your iPhone ringtone.

Because , yeah, everybody wants their super cool new shiny iPhone to ring like a bell tower. Not cool Apple, not cool….

Pretty much this tutorial is the same as the last post on FSMdotCOM on how to create a iPhone ringtone, but with one difference: you gotta SSH.If the first part on creating the AAC version of the song you want its tricky with bullet points, make sure you visit the previous post , where you will find pictures along side text in the tutorial.

  • Choose your song in iTunes
  • Click right and select “Create AAC Version”
  • Choose the new version and click right “Show in Finder” or just drag and drop it on your desktop.
  • Rename it from whatever.m4a to whatever.m4r
  • Connect to your iPhone via SSH/S-FTP or DiskAid
  • Copy the whatever.m4r into /Library/Ringtones
