Discovered by Buzzfeed’s FWD, the iPhone prototypes provide a look at what could have been, but ultimately wasn’t. There’s an octagonal iPhone with a beveled rear that kind of reminds us of a Motorola Droid RAZR, one that resembles a Nokia Lumia 900, one without a home button, one that looks like a fatter version of the iPod Touch (first-gen), one with a stretched form factor, and one that looks like a iPod Nano, but wider and thicker.

I guess you all know the story of the next gen iPhone lost in a bar and sold to Gizmodo ( really?!?! ). We got a tons of emails from you guys, asking us how come we’re not covering the story. It is simple: the story is just a media hoax, and we don’t digest whatever media is feeding us, just because it says Gizmodo on the label. But we do digest a little bit of David Letterman and his excuses of the guy who lost the iPhone prototype:

First iPhone 4G prototype pictures leaked into the wild.
Ok, before we get into it… don’t you find it odd that , in this day and age when the cheapest point-and-shoot cam has like a billion megapixels all this “leak pictures” look like a bad 70s porn movie?
Anyway, the prototype seems to have a black plastic bezel instead of the aluminum one or it is wrapped in some sort of protective rubber. Other than that , the only difference between this “prototype” and the iPhone we got today is a “dot” next to the earpiece grill which can represent a camera or just a reflection.
The presentation of iPhone 4G is expected in June, and by then Apple can change the device 1000 times. Personally , i am not impressed at all, and i sure hope ( doubt ) that this won’t be nothing like the final product.
