It’s A Trap: Jailbreakers And Unlockers Ignore AT&T’s Texts To Upgrade Your Firmware

Just a quick heads-up: if you are an AT&T customer ( and an iPhone user of course ), you probably received text messages to remind you about an ‘important’ software upgrade for your iPhone. It’s a trap!

Just a quick heads-up: if you are an AT&T customer ( and an iPhone user of course ), you probably received text messages along the lines of the one in the above screenshot. It’s a trap! Jailbreakers and especially unlockers DO NOT update your firmware. You will loose the ability to jailbreak ( at least you won’t be able to get an untethered jailbreak right now ) and you will definitely loose the ability to unlock – probably forever.

!!! Jailbreakers And Unlockers: Stay Away From iOS 4.1

Today you’ll likely start seeing iTunes innocently offer you a new version of iOS…version 4.1. Don’t accept it…it’s a trap!

Today you’ll likely start seeing iTunes innocently offer you a new version of iOS…version 4.1. Don’t accept it…it’s a trap!

This time of year there are lots of new iPhone owners, and not everybody knows that accepting new iOS updates is the surest way to lose your jailbreak and/or unlock. While those of you who have Cydia or TinyUmbrella backups of your FW hashes will always be able to get back to 4.0.1 if you make this mistake, this doesn’t hold for unlockers. There’s currently no known way to revert your baseband — if you update your baseband you’ll lose the ultrasn0w unlock, possible forever.

Please stay away from this 4.1 release until a safe jailbreak procedure (which also preserves ultrasn0w) is developed and released.

P.S. There are a tiny number of iPhone3G owners who can revert their basebands due to a flaw in very early bootloaders…you will already know if you fit in this category!

We will keep you up to day. Stay tuned…

Apple Using openDNS To Block Access To JailbreakMe.com In The Apple Store

But just because it is legal, doesn’t mean that Apple likes it, and now, they are using a free service, openDNS, to redirect all visits to JailbreakMe.com back to Apple.com.

JailbreakMe is the easiest and most convenient jailbreak iOS device users have seen in a while ( or ever ). Because you can jailbreak directly from the device ( all you need is an internet connection ) , and jailbreaking is legal now, lots of people were jailbreaking display iPhone 4’s in Apple Stores all over the world.

But just because it is legal, doesn’t mean that Apple likes it, and now, they are using a free service, openDNS, to redirect all visits to JailbreakMe.com back to Apple.com. Of course this happens only in the Apple Store. You can still jailbreak your iOS device anywhere else, but make sure you use a secure hotspot ( best to use your own ). Remember that Apple already patched the Safari security hole, and they will release it any day now.

JailbreakMe: New Universal Jailbreaking Tool Released ( ALL iPhones, iPods And iPad )

The new universal jailbreaking tool is out. It is web-based, and supports all iOS devices.

YESSSS! It is finally here… kinda. Well, let me explain. This is not your usual jailbreak. This time , there is no *physical* tool. Everything is web-based. What do I mean by web-based? Well , all you have to do is go to jailbreakme.com (from your iOS device – YES this one is done remotely ) and “slide to jailbreak” . That’s it, done deal. The only downside (right now) is that, the servers are full, and it might not work for most of you.

JailbreakMe supports ALL iOS devices running FW 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1 and iPad 3.2.1…

Well done!!!!
