Photo Management Coming Into Future Versions Of iPhone OS

we will be able to rotate, crop and select a portion of any image. This is not that big of a deal, since there are tons of apps that let you do that , but it is definitely nice that you will be able to do everything in one place ( photos.app ). All in all, the new OS sounds promising

So, first of all, everybody is confused about the next major OS update. It will be 3.2 or 4.0? Well, we think that 3.2 will be the iPad OS, and 4.0 will be for the iPhone.

In the new SDK it was found support for a front facing camera, camera flash, zooming and video conferencing. In addition to that 9to5Mac found some clues related to basic tools that will let you edit photos directly on your device.

Only 14% Of iPhone Users Upgraded To iPhone OS 3.1.3 Prior PwnageTool 3.1.5

A new study has found that 14 percent of iPhone users upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1.3 in less than a week of availability, while a new hack to exploit Apple’s latest update has been released.

Last Tuesday, Apple pushed firmware 3.1.3 bringing us minor updates, but upgrading the baseband. Mobile ad group Medialets reports that in the last 6 days, only 14% of the iPhone users updated to 3.1.3. The company also noted that it saw a 13 percent drop in installs of 3.1.2, meaning 87 percent of the upgrades to iPhone OS 3.1.3 came from users who were already running the latest version of the mobile operating system.

We also saw a drop of 13% in installs v3.1.2, meaning 87% of the upgrades to v3.1.3 came from users that already had v3.1.2.

Yesterday, the iPhone DevTeam released PwnageTool 3.1.5 , allowing users to create custom 3.1.3 firmwares which will not update the baseband , therefore they can jailbreak and unlock their iPhones. Given the fact that back in Oct. there were around 38% jailbroken iPhone in circulations, we’ll see if the percentage of people that update to 3.1.3 will grow, or people will just wait for the next major release.

HOW TO: Put The iPhone In DFU Mode And Jailbreak, Even If Your Home Or Power Button Is Broken

As you know, to get into DFU you must press the two buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds, but some times one of the two buttons will break. An alternative to jailbreak without having to go into the DFU mode is to use Blackra1n. However, if the iPhone freezes and you need to restore the firmware to do it again, this guide will come back again very useful.

Apple To Rename iPhone OS To iOS ?

Apple will change the name to iOS , so it will “better reflect the diversity of devices that will run the operating system: iPhone, iPod touch, and future devices to be announced.”

We just talked about the fact that the much anticipated Apple Tablet will run on iPhone OS. But is this branded name suited for devices that are non-iPhone related? Forget about the tablet for a minute, and think about the iPod Touch. It seems that Apple thinks that they should change the name of the iPhone OS into iOS.

MacDailyNews is reporting that Apple will change the name to iOS , so it will “better reflect the diversity of devices that will run the operating system: iPhone, iPod touch, and future devices to be announced.”

Again, this are just rumors , and although they seem very tangible they should be treated as such.

Now that 3.1 is out (well a few weeks) most of the new apps in the appstore are becoming 3.1 only. Here’s the problem…not everyone wants to be on 3.1 yet. Thanks Apple. But as usual we have a work around. Now this won’t work for every app, so don’t expect miracles. It won’t hurt to try.

There are 2 ways to go about this. One includes downloading an app called FWChanger. Install, run and enter the firmware and build number you want to see. The current 3.1 iPhone build is 7C144 and the iPod touch is 3.1.1 7C145

DO NOT Upgrade To iPhone FW 3.1 ( Including Betas )

So, Apple finally released iPhone FW 3.1 Beta 1(build: 7C97d) for developers with an impressive and dangerous list of changes. If you are on a jailbroken device, DO NOT upgrade.

So, Apple finally released iPhone FW 3.1 Beta 1(build: 7C97d) for developers with the following list of changes:

  • Increase the speed of Boot (timing of ignition decreased)
  • Several changes AudioToolBox the OpenGL | ES, the Quartz Core, the IO Kit (editor of images and video.) Soon we will see how they affect applications.
  • Added the new option “Save and Copy” while editing the video. In Firmware 3.0 when a video is cut completely you will loose the original file and it will be saved only one remained unchanged. Now it is possible to maintain both, so we can send short video via MMS without loosing the entire video.
  • If you hold down the Springboard icon, it will not only just start shaking, but the iPhone will emit a small vibration
  • Solved the problem of multiple SMS
  • Better network reception
  • Improved WiFi Reception
  • Voice Control also works with Bluetooth
  • The modem version is updated to 5.08.01 (this one is in bold, read below )
  • Added new API that allow developers to access and edit the video, which will arrive soon in AppStore applications to edit video, add effects, frames and more.
