HOW TO: Use SAM to Unlock Any iPhone Regardless of iOS Version or BaseBand!

It was only a few days ago that I was having a discussion with a friend about the reasons the masses have when they decide to make the leap and jailbreak their iPhone.

Generally there are only 3 main reasons many have for jailbreaking their iPhone, everything else made available when you do is simply an added bonus. One reason is to unlock your phone, allowing it to be used on any network. Another is for on-device development and testing purposes. The third is for installing pirated apps [which we neither support or agree with].

In the case of the first reason there has been very little to celebrate as there has been no release of the main tool, ultrasn0w, for quite some time which means you’re out of luck if you have an updated baseband or newer device.

However the SAM tool from developer sbingner has you covered with a little help from iTunes thanks to a little playing around from Chinese Researcher Loktar_Sun.

If you can’t wait for PwangeTool, you can still upgrade and use greenpois0n without upgrading your baseband, using TinyUmbrella.

So, this what we got so far: greenpois0n will be released on Sunday, and MuscleNerd reminded unlockers not to update to a stock firmware. A new version of PwangeTool is in the making, but it will probably not be released before or in the same time as greenpois0n. If you can’t wait for PwangeTool, you can still upgrade and use greenpois0n without upgrading your baseband, using TinyUmbrella.

The developer of PushFix has released a new app called MiTime which activates FaceTime on phones that are operating on unofficial carriers such as T-Mobile US.

It should work worldwide and will use two SMS messages to activate. You must be able to receive an international SMS message to get activated ( If you have any doubt, please use this site to test whether you can receive a message from the UK – the default setting ).

HOW TO: Unlock iPhone 3G/3Gs And iPhone 4 With Ultrasn0w

YES! iPhone 4 unlock is finally here. The iPhone DevTeam just released their new version of ultrasn0w which will unlock your iPhone 3G/3Gs and iPhone 4.

NOTE:

T-Mobile USA uses different 3G freq than Apple “says” it supports. So you won’t get 3G , just EDGE.
Most T-Mobile users in the USA using the iphone4 after tonight will need to disable 3G mode in Settings->General->Network
For those who hand-cut your T-Mobile SIMs and still see “No SIM”, just be patient. Reposition it in the tray & try again

NOTE: probably most of you will need to convert their SIM into a microSIM. Nothing to fear about. Read about microSIMs here, and here’s a great tutorial on how to do it.

Editorial: Stop Being Whiny Little F**ks. We Need A Jailbreaking/Unlocking Tool Too…

The new tools are not released for a reason, not because *they* want to keep the tools for themselves. So be patient, because they will come.

We know you are getting impatient, and you need a new jailbreak/unlock tool right away, because we do too. But we said it before and we will say it again: if a new tool miraculously pops up and it seems too good to be true, chances are the tool is fake.

If something good is released, you can be sure we will feature it on FSM ( and it will also be featured on other sites as well. i.e DevTeam’s site ). If we don’t write about a new tool, it doesn’t mean we don’t know about it, it means the tool is worthless, and we don’t waste our time and yours with it.
