Build Your Own iPhone 4 Steadicam [video]

All you need for this $30-$40 worth of parts from Home Depot and your local skate shop, and thick enough skin to actually take this thing out in public

We showed you all sorts of 720p video comparison between the iPhone 4 and other major players on the market today ( here, here and here ). So I think we can all say that the iPhone 4 has great video recording capabilities. Because of that, sooner or later, some company will release a steadicam assembly for it, and you can buy it for a couple-few hundred dollars. Or… you can make your own.

All you need for this $30-$40 worth of parts from Home Depot and your local skate shop, and thick enough skin to actually take this thing out in public. Keep in mind when watching that you still need to learn how to use a steadicam to get the most out of it.

Watch a demo video of the iPhone 4 using the homemade steadicam after the jump… Continue reading “Build Your Own iPhone 4 Steadicam “

iPhone 3Gs vs iPhone 4: Nocturnal Fireworks Video

There is no doubt who the winner is, but it is nice to see the evolution of the iPhone camera with each upgrade.

We’ve seen a side-by-side comparison between the iPhone 4 and HTC Evo ( here ) , iPhone 4 and Droid X ( here ) and iPhone 4 and Canon 7D ( here ) .  But nobody did an iPhone 4 vs iPhone 3Gs, and especially , nobody did a nocturnal test of the iPhone 4.

We’ll, here it is. A vid shot last year, and one shot on 4th of July this year. Luckily both vids are nocturnal and there’s fireworks in both ( and also, good thing I remembered about posting the 3Gs vid last year ). There is no doubt who the winner is, but it is nice to see the evolution of the iPhone camera with each upgrade.

Both vids after the jump…

iPhone 4 HD Aerial Footage [video]

This is the best way to fix the iPhone’s reception issues. We got some big helium balloons, a brand new iPhone 4, and we send it 1000 feet into the air over downtown Los Angeles, all while recording footage with the new HD 720p camera.

DROID X vs. iPhone 4: 720p HD Videos Comparison

We showed you a HTC Evo vs. iPhone 4 720p HD videos comparison here, and now it’s time to see a battle between the DROID X and the iPhone 4. Note that the iPhone 4 has a 5MP camera while the DROID X has a 8MP camera.

The DROID X records 720p video at 24 fps, while the iPhone 4 records at 30 fps. While 6 fps seems negligible you can really tell the difference in both the indoor and outdoor tests we did. Another thing we noticed is file size. The DROID X records in the 3GP MPEG-4 format, and our 36 second clip was 102.4 MB.

New Batch Of Pics And Video Shot With iPhone 4

Yesterday we showed you a video comparison between HTC Evo vs. iPhone 4 720p HD video, and some pictures shot with the new iPhone 4. Today, some Czech site, released a new video and some new pictures shot with the new iPhone.

Yesterday we showed you a video comparison between HTC Evo vs. iPhone 4 720p HD video, and some pictures shot with the new iPhone 4. Today, some Czech site, released a new video and some new pictures shot with the new iPhone. OK, everything looks nice and tight but this is what really bugs me:

  • since the first gen iPhone, everybody bitched about the the devices not featuring a camera flash. Now we got one, and everybody is testing the device ( vids+pics ) on broad day light. Use the effing flash, and record some vids and take some pictures on low light conditions. That’s what I/we want to see, because the iPhone took some fairly decent pictures before the new iOS device came out ( on broad day light ).

Check the pics after the jump…
