If you unlocked your iPhone using ultrasn0w 1.1. you might have noticed that your battery drains out pretty quickly. They tweaked a few things and this update suppose to fix that issue. You can update ultrasn0w via Cydia.

HOW TO: Unlock iPhone 3G/3Gs And iPhone 4 With Ultrasn0w

YES! iPhone 4 unlock is finally here. The iPhone DevTeam just released their new version of ultrasn0w which will unlock your iPhone 3G/3Gs and iPhone 4.

NOTE:

T-Mobile USA uses different 3G freq than Apple “says” it supports. So you won’t get 3G , just EDGE.
Most T-Mobile users in the USA using the iphone4 after tonight will need to disable 3G mode in Settings->General->Network
For those who hand-cut your T-Mobile SIMs and still see “No SIM”, just be patient. Reposition it in the tray & try again

NOTE: probably most of you will need to convert their SIM into a microSIM. Nothing to fear about. Read about microSIMs here, and here’s a great tutorial on how to do it.

Probably ultrasn0w will be updated in the future or, who knows, new unlocking tools will be released. But for now, just stay away from that update button.

iPhone DevTeam: New PwnageTool Release Today With iPod Touch 2G Support

New PwnageTool will be released today that will allow you to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone 3Gs with firmware 3.1 and also as a bonus we’ll get support for iTouch 2G and some custom boot logos.

We dont know if this is going to be a release for mac users only, like the previous one. Hopefully not, so Windows users can enjoy this tools as well. However if that is the case, im sure that we can come up with some custom firmwares for you to download. Stay tuned …

GeoHot Responding To DevTeam’s Complaints About PurpleSn0w

s a result of this morning, in which the DevTeam complained of safety problems in Purplesn0w, due to excessive usage of Baseband RAM, GeoHotz has just responded by saying that this potential problem could occur with the RC1 but, the new version uses exactly ZERO bytes of RAM

Everybody knows by know about the “war” between GeoHot and the DevTeam. GeoHot released PurpleSn0w RC2 today, and the DevTeam released a new version of UltraSn0w as well.

Than the DevTeam complained about PurpleSn0w but GeoHot didnt wait too much to respond.

So, as a result of this morning, in which the DevTeam complained of safety problems in Purplesn0w, due to excessive usage of Baseband RAM, GeoHotz has just responded by saying that this potential problem could occur with the RC1 but, the new version uses exactly ZERO bytes of RAM

Basically the hack is still cleaner and safer than the DevTeam. In addition to being faster and without background processes. So, finally, if you need to unlock an iPhone 3GS foreigner, used purplesn0w.

PurpleSn0w Source Code Available To Download

I wrote a payload and delivery system in a day. And it’s an awesome payload. Ideally we’d like to patch the lock out of flash, but with the apparently proper sig checks, that isn’t going to happen. So purplesn0w is the next best thing. I copy the page I want to patch to an unused region of memory. In memory I patch it. Then, using the MMU, I map the flash page out and remap the patched memory page in it’s place.

I said it before and i say it again. The war between DevTeam and GeoHot is stupid. No idea how, such bright minds, can let such primitive feelings get in the way of their work. But usually competition is beneficial for the people ( users ) , but sometimes can also harm us.

While DevTeam is busy to update their version of iPhone Sim Unlock ( ultrasn0w ) and criticize everything GeoHot does, the boy genius proves himself as a true hacker and a devoted and loyal member of the open source community by making his purplesn0w source code available for anybody to download.
