If Apple follows their usual refresh pattern, soon, we will see… not one but two iPhones. The next-generation iPhone would be announced on June 22nd (a Tuesday, naturally) and would be dubbed the iPhone HD (a name that has been tossed around before).

Data Blocker: Kill iPhone GPRS/EDGE/3G Internet Connection For Good

A couple of days ago, we told you about Data Toggle, a SBSettings toggle that you can use to kill the data connection. Today, a new package lands in Cydia called Data Blocker , which basically does the same thing as Data Toggle, BUT your data connections is disabled even after you reboot your iDevice.

Data Toggle: Kill iPhone Data Traffic Properly

New day, new toggle in Cydia: Data toggle. This toggle, when it is off, it should kill the data connection entirely. 3G can be on and you will not be able to access your internet via your provider’s data connection.

New day, new toggle in Cydia: Data toggle. This toggle, when it is off, it should kill the data connection entirely. 3G can be on and you will not be able to access your internet via your provider’s data connection. You will notice you get an IP address, but it is a bogus one that we assign (1.1.1.0).

In short, this solution sets a bogus IP address, (1.1.1.0) to your data adapter’s IP address. This seems to kill EDGE / 3G without any battery drain issues reported in using other methods such as entering a bad APN.

The only downside is that to reenable data, we have to kill commcenter which can freeze the device for up to 15 seconds. (Should come back to life after that though).

Speed Test Video: iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3Gs vs Palm Pre

A “real world” video comparison of the new iPhone 3Gs vs iPhone 3G vs Palm Pre. Testing the boot time, web browser speeds, and the time it takes to snap a photo.

Some of the hottest phones around right now : the iPhone and the Palm Pre. There was a lot of buzz around the Palm Pre, everybody said it’s the iPhone killer and so on, the usual… Myself, would like to have one ( Palm Pre ), would love to get that background apps feature that Palm’s OS got, but pretty much thats it. More excited by the background apps than the actual phone.

CNet has done a video ‘real world’ speed test comparison of the iPhone 3G S versus the Palm Pre versus the iPhone 3G.
They tested the boot time, web browser speeds, and the time it takes to snap a photo.

Update On No iPhone MMS & Tethering From AT&T Until “Late This Summer”

New insides about why AT&T will support MMS and tethering on iPhone OS 3.0 later this year

After a couple of minutes from posting Why No iPhone MMS Support and Tethering From AT&T Until “Late This Summer” , somebody from AT&T contacted me and filled me in with some spicy insides about the AT&T MMS support and tethering plan.If what my ninja tells me is true, i have no idea why AT&T didnt get all this up and running by now. They knew this is coming and still they get their users to wait.

MMS

There are 2 different plans for the iPhones. They are built into the scripting to block the mms in the network. We have to re-write all these features and update them to all of the correct iPhones. 3G gets mms and 2G does not. There is no MMS opt out feature on the account. It is built into the plan and can not just be
removed. The only way around is to modify the HLR to enable the mms. It’s quite easy but the programming of the billing system is the hard part.

Tethering

About tethering I haven’t heard to much. I think they are just not sure on the price for the feature. They have to great a new feature and write in the ISP APN into the code. Tethering should have launched. Not sure on why AT&T is waiting on that one since they do not have to modifiy anyone current account. Just for the people that want it.

Why No iPhone MMS Support and Tethering From AT&T Until “Late This Summer”

The reason why AT&T wont support MMS and Tethering on the new iPhone OS 3.0 until “late this summer”

The moment we all were waiting for just passed by us in the most boring and disappointing way possible. iPhone OS 3.0 is here and its badass ( disappointed about the new iPhone 3Gs) but for you guys and lovely girls livin in US it’s pretty much a big BS.

So we had to wait 2 years for this amazing piece of technology to get MMS support, and now we finally get it and AT&T says : no no no, no MMS till “late this summer” . You probably wonder why, you wont get MMS support till later this year. Well, BoyGeniusReport seems to have a insider which revealed the real reason :

They were just told the real reason why AT&T won’t be supporting MMS on the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S at launch, and you’re going to laugh… Technically it will work right away our ninja tells us. The are no extra plans or higher fees we’ve just learned (the unlimited $20 package covers unlimited SMS and MMS), and the reason it’s not good to go right away is because AT&T has to manually remove all the “Opt Out MMS codes” on each account. Basically, if we were to summarize this, and we’re going out a little bit of a limb, remove the Opt Out MMS code, and MMS will work with the final OS 3.0 build right away. Who wants to try it with the GM 3.0 build just released?

They’ve also just heard that tethering will be 100% locked out at launch, but AT&T’s in the process of putting together a $70/mo unlimited data and tethering plan. SMS and MMS will not be included in that plan, we’re told.

Just Got My GelaSkin For iPhone 3G Today

We all feel the need to protect , in some way or another , this beautiful jewel called iPhone right? So far i had a black silicon case from macally which sucks big time. It sucks because a case, any case takes all the sexiness of the device and didnt matter i had my phone in the case and always alone in one pocked ( no keys, ciggs, lighter with it in the pocket ) , the phone got really really dirty on the back. Ohh and the case got bigger for some reason, and the cam was never on the whole. Half of the cam was always covered by the case.

So i decide to order myself a skin. I really dont need a case to protect my phone ( but hey, thats me ) and all i want to protect it from is finger prints and scratches. So , like i said i ordered myself a Justin Bua – 1981 skin from GelaSkins

img_0013

I place the order, i paid $14.95 including shipping ( dont really know if Canadian dollars or US dollars ) via paypal and normally i had to wait 15 business days for it to arrive. Had a big surprise today when i got the envelope containing the skin in the mail. I ordered it 2 days ago! If you wonder why i am so happy about the 2 days arrival, well… i live in Europe and the skin was sent from Canada. I think there’s 2 or 3 customs on its way here, and our postal service really sucks on international shipping so…. you bet your ass i cant believe that i got it in just 2 days.

The quality of the skins is impeccable and you can remove it with no fear. And apply it again. Trust me i removed it like 4 times and got it back on. I really couldnt get the corners right though and it really bothers me. But everything else is real nice, and i love how my phone looks and feels right now.

By the way: If you dont know who Justin Bua is, let me introduce him to you. Justin Bua is an artist from New York City’s Upper West Side, raised between Manhattan and East Flatbush, Brooklyn. BUA was fascinated by the raw, visceral street life of the city. He attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Performing Arts and complemented his education on the streets by writing graffiti and performing worldwide with breakdancing crews. BUA went on to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where he earned a B.F.A in Illustration.

If you are fascinated by art, or HipHop culture ( culture , not music. dont care what anybody says: HipHop music DOES NOT exist ) you should really consider buy his book : The Beat Of Urban Art – The Art of Justin Bua . I got it from ebay, from A1Books brand new and much much cheaper that the one on Justin’s site. Be creative, find your way.

Disclaimer: i was not paid by anybody ( Justin Bua, A1Books, Macally, GelaSkins ) for this article. This is based on my opinions, and i felt the need to inform you about this things.
