iCloud Automatic Downloads Magically Appear In iOS 4

Even though Apple won’t fully launch iCloud until fall, signs of cloud syncing are beginning to magically appear. First it showed up in the app store, and last night ‘Automatic Downloads’ was implemented over the air in iOS 4.

iCloud Showing Up In iOS 4’s App Store

At least a portion of the new functionality is now available by opening up the “Purchased” tab in iOS 4’s App Store, revealing a history of apps that have been downloaded with your account, including those not currently on your device.


At least a portion of the new functionality is now available by opening up the “Purchased” tab in iOS 4’s App Store, revealing a history of apps that have been downloaded with your account, including those not currently on your device. Those not presently installed will feature a cloud icon, making it possible to re-download them onto the handset.

AirFlick offers the potential of real-time transcoding of otherwise unsupported file types into Apple TV-compatible data. It also allows you to open videos located on the Internet by pasting a URL and clicking the play button.

It also allows you to open videos located on the Internet by pasting a URL and clicking the play button. I was able to watch a number of Internet Archive (archive.org) mp4 videos on a big screen TV by browsing that website, selecting URLs, and opening them with AirFlick.
