HOW TO: Make Gevey SIM Work On iOS 5 And Unlock Your iPhone

It’s great that we can finally untether jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 ( iPhone 4S/iPad 2 jailbreak coming in a week ), but what about an unlock? Ultrasn0w was updated for iOS 5.0.1, but unfortunately it supports the same old basebands. iPhone DevTeam Updates redsn0w To v0.9.10b3 To Fix MobileSubstrate Issues

iPhone DevTeam’s b3 version of redsn0w fixes a problem where re-running redsn0w over an existing jailbreak would cause MobileSubstrate-based apps to stop running until MS was installed again.  Now you can re-run the redsn0w jailbreak step without worrying about that (but still remember to de-select the “Install Cydia” option if it’s already installed).  If this is your first time usingredsn0w, check out this tutorial

TIP: If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select theappropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using “Extras->Select IPSW”.

iPhone DevTeam Updates Redsn0w To v0.9.10b2 To Include The Launchctl-Related Fix

iPhone DevTeam’s b2 version of redsn0w includes the launchctl-related fix by @planetbeing as mentioned by @saurik here and here.  As usual, you can just re-run redsn0w in jailbreak mode over your existing 5.0.1 jailbreak (even a PwnageTool one), making sure to de-select “Install Cydia” if you do.  Always be sure to do a controlled “slide to power off” shutdown of your device before running redsn0w. If this is your first time using redsn0w, check out this tutorial

Corona Updated To v1.0-3 To Fix Redsn0w Issues. iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak

A couple of hours ago Corona, Chronic DevTeam’s untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1, was updated to fix some issues it had with ‘launchctl’- a service management framework for starting, stopping and managing daemons, applications, processes, and scripts. Apparently the same issues affects redsn0w users too, so it was updated yet again to v1.0-3. Make sure you updated or install now. To learn more about Corona, read this

HOW TO: Use Corona To Untethered Jailbreak iOS 5

Chronic DevTeam has announced this morning the release of an untethered jailbreak for iOS version 5.0.1, for all supported A4 (& lower) devices – Corona.

This package will allow your 5.0.1 device to install pod2g’s untethered exploits and reboot without requiring an external tool like redsn0w or sn0wbreeze, and without having to restore your device (so you get to keep all your apps, contacts, etc).
