It’s A Trap: Jailbreakers And Unlockers Ignore AT&T’s Texts To Upgrade Your Firmware

Just a quick heads-up: if you are an AT&T customer ( and an iPhone user of course ), you probably received text messages to remind you about an ‘important’ software upgrade for your iPhone. It’s a trap!

Just a quick heads-up: if you are an AT&T customer ( and an iPhone user of course ), you probably received text messages along the lines of the one in the above screenshot. It’s a trap! Jailbreakers and especially unlockers DO NOT update your firmware. You will loose the ability to jailbreak ( at least you won’t be able to get an untethered jailbreak right now ) and you will definitely loose the ability to unlock – probably forever.

This is not an official release, and you won’t find them in Cydia. Note that both betas are untested, and meant for bug reports.

ashikase, the dev of Backgrounder and MultiIconMover has released a beta version for both tweaks with support for iOS 4.2.1. This is not an official release, and you won’t find them in Cydia.
