As time wears on though most of us like to freshen up the look and feel of the beloved devices we use many times a day. One such way is through an already well-established company, iCarbons.

When I got my black & slate iPhone 5 on release day, I was amazed at how beautiful it really was, the pictures I had already seen simply didn’t do it full justice.

In terms of skins Daniel Young Skateboards Hawaii now offer a great skin for the rear of your iPhone 5.

I love the look of my iPhone 5, as I did with all my purchases of previous iterations from Apple. One thing I have come to appreciate though is the fact that there is always scope for improvement or personalization – be it through installing a theme, rocking a case or applying a skin.

CallBar: Never Be Interrupted By A Call Again! [giveaway]

we need is a way to dismiss that strumpet and get on with our evening, without having to pause the game…What we need, is CallBar!

Our phones these days are pretty amazing devices. We surf the web, message, navigate, and even play games. Sometimes however, we actually receive a call (I know right?!) ! While this action is expected, (it is a phone after all) a lot of times we find ourselves in the middle of something when someone wants to reach out and say hello.

What’s worse, even if we don’t care to speak to whichever girlfriend we may be blowing off tonight in favor of a marathon session of Temple Run, it switches out of the game! Not cool. What we need is a way to dismiss that strumpet and get on with our evening, without having to pause the game…What we need, is CallBar!

CallBar hit Cydia a month or so before iOS 5 dropped, and given we were all testing the beta, we couldn’t install it. Once it was finally updated for 5.0, we jumped on it like a pack of hungry wolves on a pile of meat. Could this be as awesome as we had hoped? Short answer: Yes.

CallBar uses a notification banner type alert that unobtrusively slides down from the top when receiving a call,  allowing the user to continue on with whatever it is he might be doing, no matter who calls him. Aside from that, if you have some aversion to the actual phone app, callbar even includes a nifty gesture based dialer.

BiteSMS – THE Premier Messages Replacement App for iOS [giveaway]

What exactly is biteSMS? Well aside from a full, more robust, replacement for the stock messaging app. It also offers a handy set of features called quick compose and quick reply.

Over the many months you didn’t have a jailbreak on 5.x, if you are anything like us, you were absentmindedly performing gestures on your screen to preform the various functions embedded in your muscle memory from the jailbreak. Some of these tweaks are just hard to live without, and were the first things we installed when the jailbreak finally dropped. One of these must have tweaks ( actually, biteSMS is a full blown app ), and in this reviewer’s opinion, one of the reasons to jailbreak your iPhone, is biteSMS.

What exactly is biteSMS? Well aside from a full, more robust, replacement for the stock messaging app. It also offers a handy set of features called quick compose and quick reply.

These features allow you to assign a gesture (think activator) to quickly send or receive a SMS while within another app. Saving you steps, and not interrupting your work flow.

Now, if you are familiar with such things, you would know that there are several tweaks on the app store that offer similar functionality.  These more popular alternatives include Messages+ and iRealSMS. Where biteSMS differentiates itself is design. Rather just create an (arguably) ugly popup bubble like messages+, or a 4.x style alert style popup like iReal, biteSMS took it up a notch with iOS 5 and made a custom popup based on the new tweet sheet. It honestly looks like something Apple should have bundled with the OS.

Giveaway: 3G Unrestrictor 5 for iPhone and iPad

Unless you are brand new to the jailbreak “scene”, you have more then likely heard of a little tweak called “3G Unrestrictor“. This tweak, removes that annoying requirement of wifi that our carriers have forced upon us, and allows for true freedom of data use. Everyone knows of it or one of its copycat brothers, but what you might not know is that the dev has released a pretty stout update for iOS 5.

The new update is more then just a new icon. It’s a complete rewrite with app specific optimization tools an settings! Currently the only one I have found to have anything worth while in the settings field is YouTube. It allows you I set vid quality preferences, and even has a sbsettings toggle for those times when 3G just can’t handle that HD video. Additionally it also includes optimizations for now iOS 5 system functions like iCloud backup, Photo Stream, and updates.

Review: iCarbon’s iPad 2 Skin + iPad 2 Full Skin Giveaway

iCarbon’s carbon fiber (or fibre for you fancy European types) skin for the iPad 2 is the perfect way to add the scratch protection you need, without adding anything extra that you don’t want

Most will agree that Apple hit a home run in the design department of the iPad 2. Sleek, light, and elegant, leaving very little room for improvement in the looks department. But what they didn’t offer was scratch resistance or any kind of grip when handling it. Sure you could buy one of any of the myriad of cases offered by third party vendors, but why would you want to muck up that sleek aluminum and glass with a bunch of bulk? Hmmm….what to do?

Review: iCarbons Macbook Covers + Exclusive Giveaway

Made of the same stuff they use to skin race cars and those crazy looking street rods we have all seen in the movies, it complements your MacBook’s natural aesthetic, hugging the curves of your machine like expensive jeans on a beautiful woman.

First of all, I would like to welcome you all to iCarbons week here at FSM! This promises to be an awesome week, full of great products and even better giveaways! So without further stalling… let’s jump right into it!

For our first feature this week, we have the iCarbons Macbook Cover. Now I don’t know about you, but personally the idea of walking around with a big clunky case on my MacBook is a bit of a downer. For starters, it hides the elegance that was so painstakingly created by our favorite company. Additionally they add weight and just make things cumbersome. Unfortunately these detractors are a necessity to keep our computers beautiful, even if it’s only on the inside.
