About a month ago, we showed you an early preview of Flash running on iPhone. Frash is a port of the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPhone, using a compatibility layer, by comex. Frash can currently run most Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser. Frash currently only runs on the iPad, but support for other devices (3GS+ only due to technical restrictions) is planned, as well as support for iOS 4.
Comex, the guy behind Spirit, published a video preview of Flash running on the iPhone. At the moment we don’t have any info on the project but as soon as we do, you will be the first one to know. Stay tuned…
Hulu, a service that streams popular television shows to millions of users in the United States through their web browser for free is now in the process of trying to get their content on the iPad.
Lately, the lack of Flash support on iDevices is one of the most sensitive issues. If you are thinking just about webpages, and you are not visiting mostly bands and restaurants sites, you are good to go. But, Flash delivers 75% of the video on the Web and that is why people are visibly outraged.
All this is made possible by the project “Gordon” and a Flash runtime based on a powerful JavaScript.Precisely because of this JavaScript you can upload and view .swf files inside MobileSafari.
A couple of days ago, we told you that this year Adobe will bring around 2 million developers to the iPhone appstore. All of this is possible because of they will release Flash Pro CS5 which will include Packager for iPhone, an app that will automagically convert any flash app into an iPhone app. Unfortunately this will still not allow us to view flash animation on our iPhone, and it is even worse when you think about the fact that flash is a web standard for video. All of this might be changing because of a new tool called : Flash Gordon
Remember my post on how to boost MobileSafari?Well if you do, than you remember that there was a plugin that gave you the ability to view flash videos on webpages and eliminates that stinky missing plugin icon.Well this is something similar.
I bet you want me to answer some questions for you. Well let’s do that :
Q : What is it called?
A : iMobileCinema
Q : Is it a flash player?
A : Hell no!
Q : Is it better?
A : Not yet.
Q: Works with .swf?
A: Nope
Q: What about .flv?
A : Well it has to work with something , right?
Q : If i already have this feature from the addons pack that you showed me in the previous post, why do i need this? It’s exactly the same, really do u have some new stuff for me or not?
A : Yep. Well you might not want this right now, but according to their blog , in the near future you will get this :
Some live broadcast sites are using rtmp protocol to deliver videos, e.g., mtv.com, hulu.com. We’ll try to support the protocol later. And playing embedded mp3, like singsbox.com, is a good idea and we’ll try to support it too.
Q : Oh wow, that’s cool! OK , OK, how can i get this?
A : Well , like all good stuff that are happening to the iPhone and/or iPod Touch , you can get this thru Cydia. First you need to add this source : http://d.imobilecinema.com , than you just search for iMobileCinema and install the package.
Q : Anything else that i should be aware about?
A : Hmm… not really. But you might wanna check out iMobileCinema’s Blog
