Apple invested $1 billion in their new iDataCenter, making it one of the largest data centers in the world.
It is rumored that Apple will use the new data center for upcoming cloud computing initiatives relating to iTunes that may involve streaming media content from the cloud. They should move fast, because, if Spotify will be released in the wild, iTunes is D.E.A.D.
