Concept: iPhone Air TV Ad [video]

iPhone air tv ad

An iPhone Air concept is nothing new. In fact, we’ve been getting these kind of concepts since 2013 ( earlier? ). Today’s concept is not really a concept, is more like a “look how we can manipulate video” sort of thing, and comes from SET Solutions. The video is based on the original iPad Air 2 ad, and shows an iPhone Air that’s only 4.3mm thick, 122.7 high and 56.9 mm wide. It has a 4-inch screen with 1080p resolution. And that’s pretty much it.

New iPhone 6 + iRing Concept [video]

New iPhone 6 + iRing Concept [video]

Apparently, imagining what the iWatch might look like and its characteristics is sooo last month. So it’s time to dig deep into the past and get back to the iRing. This is the case for this new concept that presents an ‘iPhone 6 Air’ in multiple colors, which comes with an iRing that features notification lights, a temperature sensor, heartbeat monitor and a ‘mood sensor’. To be honest the concept lacks creativity, especially when it comes to the ‘iPhone 6 Air’ ( btw, it’s either iPhone 6 or iPhone Air ). The best iPhone Air concept we’ve seen so far, might just be the one presented back in December that showed the introductory video, an unboxing video and the TV ad. But there are a couple of other iPhone Air concepts worth mentioning that you can check out here.

A couple of weeks ago Tim Cook revealed at the shareholder meeting that its set-top box Apple TV generated more than a billion dollar in revenues for the first time in a fiscal year, selling more than 10 million units.

The fourth generation of Apple TV could be introduced this spring; we layed out our concept of an Apple TV touch a couple of weeks ago. But it doesn’t actually take a full blown set-top box to invade the living room as Google’s widely successful dongle Chromecast which debuted last week in Europe has proved.

Christoph Fahlbusch released a new iOS 8 concept, specifically targeting the iOS 8 Settings.app. First he proposes a search function inside the Settings.app which, to be honest, could be really useful. Next on the list, he thinks that Apple should uses dots instead of carets (If more than one I/O option) that will indicate if something is turned on or off. Also the concept proposes that every section has a “Learn more…” modal view in order to show more information, help or guidance for the specific toggle or section itself and new transitions.

Check Out This 12.9-Inch iPad Pro Concept [gallery]

There is a Mac for Pros, a MacBook for Pros, but we’re still waiting for an iPad Pro – but that may change in 2014.

There is a Mac for Pros, a MacBook for Pros, but we’re still waiting for an iPad Pro – but that may change in 2014. Samsung has the GALAXY NotePRO 12.2 and Asus is as well working on larger tablets, mainly to address businesses and graphic designers, who usually choose graphic tablets from Wacom. A larger iPad would combine both tablet and computer functions.

A New Car UI: How Touch Screen Controls in Cars Should Really Work [video]

How touch screen controls in cars should really work

05b

Several automotive companies have begun replacing traditional controls in their cars with touch screens. Unfortunately, their eagerness to set new trends in hardware, is not matched by their ambition to create innovative software experiences for these new input mechanisms. Instead of embracing new constraints and opportunities, they merely replicate old button layouts and shapes on these new, flat, glowing surfaces.

Matthaeus Krenn, a San Francisco-based designer, proposes a new mode that can be invoked at any time: It clears the entire screen of those tiny, intangible control elements and makes way for big, forgiving gestures that can be performed anywhere. In place of the lost tactile feedback, the interface leverages the driver’s muscle memory to ensure their ability to control crucial features without taking their eyes off the road.

Jump over the break to watch a video of the interface in action, or try the prototype on your tablet (so far only tested on iPads).

The Apple iCup Hooks Up to Your Computer to Keep Your Coffee Warm [video]

Tomislav took the familiar Apple Computers logo and made that the form of the mug, providing the leaf and the bite mark as great handgrips. The saucer takes the same outline.

1-1Tomislav Zvonarić created an office coffee cup concept – the iCup. The idea is old …keep your coffee (tea, milk, etc) warm by hooking the cup via USB to a computer. But, Tomislav took the familiar Apple Computers logo and made that the form of the mug, providing the leaf and the bite mark as great handgrips. The saucer takes the same outline.

Now, with a USB cable, plug Zvonaric’s Apple iCup into your laptop or desktop device and the thick-walled drinking vessel will stay warm. Your java will keep from cooling off until you choose to disconnect it. If only the iCup had the ability to recreate Steve Jobs’ portrait in the steamed milk foam every time…
