Why Do GreenPois0n And Limera1n Not Support Boot Logos And Verbose Boot?

Bootlogo’s and verbose boot were not possible, (at least not possible as we know them) because the bootchain is actually not touched (LLB and iBoot are being code signed and well).

Both greenpois0n and limera1n use the same bootrom exploit and pretty much the same way of applying the jailbreak to your device. Geohot’s bootrom exploit is a tethered exploit, meaning that it is not able of booting a patched bootchain. So, what they actually do is use this bootrom exploit as an “injection vector” in order to apply kernel patches (userland jailbreak).

Fix iPhone Stuck At Apple Logo

ALSO READ: HowTo: Edit .plist Files on Windows And Fix iPhone Stuck At Boot Logo ( detailed version of how to do it )

Nothing worse than to see your beloved iPhone stuck at boot logo. Well pretty much this is not something that you can’t fix.

What you need :

  • to know how to SSH, and be albe to SSH
  • a little time and patience

NOTE : I am not sure if usb access with software like iPhoneBrowser will work if the iPhone is stuck at apple logo stage, but if it does let us know.

Basically your device is getting stuck at the boot logo, because you just installed or updated some kind of app ( eg : IntelliScreen ) and something, well, just went wrong. There is no need to restore your iPhone, all you need to is is to prevent the XXX dylib from loading all you need to do is remove its entry from com.apple.SpringBoard.plist file ( XXX being the name of the app that is causing the problem )

  • SSH into your iPhone and download the file /System/Library/LaunchDemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist

If the file is in binary format then convert it to text format. iPhone will recognize and process the file normally whether it is in binary or text format. You can do the conversion here  http://iappcat.com/plist/bin2xml

  • Open the file with a DAMN GOOD text editor, like NotePad++ ( the default NotePad does not display it properly)
  • The file is in xml format and contains key called DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES. This key contains the path of all dylib files which springboard will try to load at startup. Each file location is separated by a ‘:‘. Remove the the complete path of the dylib file you think is causing the problem.
  • Save the file as com.apple.SpringBoard.plist and put it back on the iPhone in the /System/Library/LaunchDemons/ folder
  • Restart your iPhone

It should boot normally now. If it doesent , edit the file again and remove all the other dylib enteries. It should look like this :

<dict>
<key>DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES</key>
<string></string>
</dict>

Copy the file back to your iPhone and restart your iPhone.

How To Change Your iPhone Boot Logo

  • lunch Cydia
  • search for ” LogoMe ” and install it
  • when the installation is complete, press the home button to return to SpringBoard.
  • look for the LogoMe icon and load the application
  • when LogoMe first opens it will need an Internet connection to download some required files. Once the files have been downloaded press the Select Logo tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • now you need to enter the url to a logo that you uploaded somewhere on the internet, or that already is somewhere on the internet. If you dont have one, you can use the FSMdotCOM logo ” http://cli.gs/jRbhPQ “
  • Press the Download button to download the specified Boot Logo to LogoMe. Once it has finished you can press to select the Install Logo tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • you can use the Preview button , to check if it looks good
  • Press the Install button to install your specified Boot Logo onto your iPhone.

That’s it. The next time you will boot up your iPhone, you will see the new logo up.

How To UnBrick Your iPhone

Guess what happened to me today? I got my iPhone bricked! 😀 Oh Happy Day! To tell you the truth , i have no idea how did i manage to do it and i had no idea that i was capable of such a horrible act of incopentence . brick-iphone-custom

So first thing i did : i automatically started to transform into a 5 yo girl and panic. Really?!?! Do you blame me? Than i took a dump , i released all my fears and maybe anger down the pipe and i start to use my brain 🙂

So ,this is simple but it hurts so bad. It hurts because you will have to restore your device. But the process is a no-brainer , so lets begin :

  • Turn on your iPhone ( doesent matter if you got stock at the boot logo or w/ ever… just turn it on )
  • Wait like 10 seconds or something like that
  • Turn on iTunes and plug in your iPhone
  • Hold down the power and home button ( DFU mode ) for about 7-8 seconds until the screen shuts off . Keep the buttons pressed.
  • Once the screen is off , wait for like 5 seconds and  let go of the power button, but keep holding down the home button for a max of 30 seconds
  • A popup in itunes will appear saying your iPhone is in restore mode and must be restored.

Thats it! Congrats you’ve just unbriked your device. YOU the man 😀
