Today, Apple has updated their frontpage with a countdown to 50 billion app downloads from the App Store. The countdown was launched last week, when Apple announced that they will give away a $10,000 App Store gift card to the person who downloads the landmark app. In addition to the $10,000 gift card for the 50 billionth app download, Apple will also award a $500 App Store Gift Card to the next 50 customers following the momentous download.

You can also get a quick look at some of the app’s basic details including the price, rating, and publisher. These results will appear when your search pertains to a mobile application and relevant, well-rated apps are found.

Apple decided to give a new look to the app store categories, and they did a great job. Now, single categories look just like the home page of the app store featuring ‘What’s Hot’ and ‘New & Noteworthy’ and top paid and free apps. The biggest changes have been made to the ‘all apps’ section. You can now sort by ‘featured’ and ‘name’, while the whole list has a switch to browse paid/free apps.
